Is Bukit Batok Mas Pte LTD(Bukit Batok Golf Range Near to BBDC) a good place to learn Golf?

I asked some of golf friends about Bukit Batok Golf range whether it is a good place to learn golf .

This is the comments I can:

1. Golf instructors is quite professional. They even tied up with some primary schools for golf lessons.

2. Balls are quite new...but green maps is quite old and hard..

It is also quite stuffy at certain areas...(you will sweat a lot..)

3. PC test is not recognised by SPGA, hence u may need to take the test again....

I really keen to pick up golf...please advise me on the above.

I don't find that plc good except that its rather new. The place is terribly hot in the afternoon esp on the basement level and the sunlight is getting into your eyes. Being artificial turf, you are not able to feel how far your ball should roll after it lands thus not giving you the actual info. Its also rather noisy when there's jnr training going on. The coaches there should teach about etiquette and discipline first.

There's no place for you to practise your chips and the putting green is small and useless.

As for the coaches, they are just USGTF certified not by SPGA. Frankly I don't think they are truly competent players and afew of them tried taking the SPGA pro test but failed to make the mark.

While being comfortable with the coach and the cost are important, but I think you should really look for a truly certified SPGA coach to teach you the right techniques. My recommendation is that you hire a coach from golf clubs (e.g. keppel CC, Jurong CC, Laguna etc) to teach you as they have better training facilities and credentials.
