  1. no. not the main reason anyway.don't get me wrong   it certainly isn't helping.their are several things.the housing bubble busted.it was only a matter of time because the market was so overvalued.now oil is trading at 105 dollars a barrel.credit is getting tight.people are to maxed out on credit cards and other debt.the days of getting a mortgage just because your hearts beating are over with.food stuffs are getting very expensive.and don't forget our weak dollar.the truth is it dosent matter who wins the next election as far as the economy goes.no matter if its clinton or obama the housing situation will still be bad.energy prices will be to high.unemployment will probobly rise regardless and inflation might really start to show up in a bad way

  2. No. The president has no control over the economy. He can only support and pass legislation. The war may be an influencing factor. But there are a lot of factors going on behind the recession we're seeing such as the home mortgage crisis. Lots of folks were mortgaged up to their ying yangs (banks were approving things like 125% mortages...loans more than value of home and much riskier loans). The price of crude oil is a huge factor too. Congress didn't approve opening up the pipelines in Alaska, which would have helped us out. (Bush supported opening up those pipelines by the way.)

  3. ..you figured that out 4 years late.

    Hahah.
