Question:

Is CITI still trustworthy for credit cards?

I am planning on making a balance transfer to a new credit card, and closing my old high interest account. I was wondering since Citi had some financial issues, is it still a trustworthy company to have a credit card with? When researching they seemed to have the best APR and also no interest on balance transfers for 12 months, which is what I want.

Also which would be better, Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, or Discover? It seems like no one takes Discover, but I'm not sure.

I've looked at http://www.cardratings.com/ but there is just so much information out there.

Oh and btw, I have great credit, so that won't be an issue when applying for a card.

  1. I have a good friend that owrks for Citi believe me they are fine.

  2. Citi may have had some troubles recently, but they are a huge company.  I am pretty sure they will not be allowed to fail if it gets really bad for them. The government would probably bail them out too.
