  1. No, not for a cartilage piercing. They only use piercing guns at Claire's, and those are very unsafe because they 1) Cannot be properly cleaned and sterilized, and 2) creates trauma to the pierced site.

The cartilage is a risky spot to pierce on your ear because there isn't a lot of bloodflow going through it and can be easily infected. You should go to a professional establishment and get it pierced by a needle. This is a lot safer.

  2. Yes, I got my ears pierced there, and they have a very good reputation.

  3. well i got my ears pierced there and it was great!

  4. NO! Claire's is an accessories place, get accessories there, not body piercing... Go to People's or something...

  5. yeah it is, I got mine their, and I am really safe about that kind of stuff and so is my mom and we went there and they did a great job, and it is good priced!

  6. Never been there but I've seen and heard bad things about that place than good things. So I'd say no.. but I've there in there once but never got my ears done.

  7. I am wondering the same thing!!!

I want mine done to and i want it there!!!

  8. i'd say no...i got a normal one done there and not only was it done by a girl in the year below me but it was wonky!!

Cartilage ones can also have extra problems...go to a real peircing place!

    xx

  9. OH MY GOD NO!!!!  Never EVER go to Claires to get a piercing!  Some people may have gotten lucky and had a good experience there, but it's not common.

Piercing guns cause blunt trauma to your ears, making them more susceptable to hypertrophic scarring and keloids (both of which are those ugly bumps you see on piercings sometimes.)  It is especially bad for cartilage as opposed to a lobe due to the fact that the blunt force causes your cartilage to shatter, most times leaving permanent scarring behind.  Piercing guns also can't be autoclaved due to the fact that they're made of plastic.  Therefore if the person in front of you bled a little during the procedure or if someone who had not washed their hands touched that gun, that blood and bacteria is then PUSHED into your piercing!  How gross!  Plus it hurts!  The blunt force causes immense pain that does not occur when you have it done with a very sharp, sterile needle by a professional.  I have two cartilage piercings.  One I got at Claires before I knew of the dangers of piercing guns.  I now have a bump there, and it was excruciating.  The other I got at a reputible piercing shop with an autoclaved needle.  I honestly felt nothing but a pinch, I knew that it was safe and sterile, it's bump free and the placement of the piercing was MUCH better.  Finally, because of the nature of a blunt trauma it's much harder to have the hole close without it looking funny or just not closing at all.  When you get it done with a needle, it leaves nothing but a tiny crescent shaped hole, that closes very easily and is usually scar free, so if there's a chance you'll EVER want it to close, don't get it done by someone at Claires.  Hope this helps!  Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease don't go to Claires, you'll thank yourself for it later!

  10. no they use guns.

guns should only be used for earlobes =/

  11. On the wallet: Yes. It's cheap.

On the body: No.  I've done tattoos for awhile now (so I work with piercers) and I'm pretty sure most would say that it leads to scarring and can hurt quite a bit. Seriously, I think their employees get about a 5 minute "This is how to do it" tutorial and that's it.

If it were your lobe, I would say no big deal (still not a good idea but at least you can't do any real damage), but it's your cartilage and if that gets maimed it will leave scars.

If you don't mind shelling out a little extra cash, go to a piercer. You will get much better quality jewelry and it won't hurt nearly as bad.

    Just my $0.02

  12. well when i went to go get a piercing i got an infection and had to take it out lol

    so i guess not

  13. No! Cartilage piercings are not like lobe piercings. You should to go a good and professional piercing shop for such things. Piercing guns are really bad and are why so many cartilage piercings take so long to heal and get infected easily. Definitely go professional for all of your piercings, not to Claires where they barely train the workers for such things.

  14. I got my cartilage done there on saturday at arbor place mall and it was great!

but i guess when you get and infection you really have to look at in 2 ways

  15. no.

    dont do it.

  16. I say so, I've had my ears pierced there twice.
