My husband and I are TTC. My last AF started on July 20th and I have an average cycle of 32 days which puts my ovulation at August 7th. On August 4th CM was creamy and like lotion and hubby and BD'd just in case. Today, August 6th, EWCM. If we plan to BD August 6th, 7th and 8th is that enough? Is EWCM a sure enough sign of ovulation?

  1. No!

It's very possible to have EWCM as your body gets ready to ovulate... but then your body decide to not ovulate just yet.  CM might revert back to creamy or dry up all together, then again become EWCM in preperation for ovulation.  The cycle can repeat itself over and over until you finally ovulate.  But such a pattern usually causes someone to go like 45 days to two months between a period.

HOWEVER, when TTC, when ever you notice EWCM, you should baby dance "just in case".  However, unless you KNOW HE has 'normal' counts, you might want to only do the BD every other day to give his body a chance to build up a reserve.

  2. No it's not. EWCM is made by estrogen and you can have strange surges of estrogen at various times in your cycle. It's just more likely right before ovulation. The only way to know for sure is to chart your temperatures and see a spike after ovulation. Even OPKs are not fully reliable. I would chart CM and BBTs and after a few cycles you'll start to see a pattern Good luck!

  3. Yes, google the Ovulation method of conception.  That's all we relied on for both our children.

  4. yes, EWCM is a definite sign of ovulation. You aren't supposed to rely on it completely because your body could not make it during fertile period, but if you have it then, yes! BD! Good luck to you!
