Is CM or OPK better predictor of fertility?

Ok this may be TMI but what TTC question isnt? I want to know if you think my DH and I may have missed the opportunity this month or not so I will just give you the spill and let me know what you think.

My LMP was July 30th and I have been having 31 day cycles usually. I began noticing thick EWCM on Thursday the 14th and it continued on until Saturday the 16th. I got a positive OPK on Friday the 15th at 630pm. However, I noticed some stretchy clear CM on Monday the 18th but it was very thin. We BD on the 11th and every night from the 13th through the 16th. Do you think that the CM I saw on the 18th could mean that since we did not BD on the 17th and 18th that we could have missed our chance? Any serious opinions are welcom. Thanks for your help. Baby Dust to all you TTC.

  1. I think you pretty much covered all the basis!!  I always seem to first  notice EWCM about 2 days before I have a positive OPK.  We start regular BD'ing from the time I first see EWCM until about 3 days after my first positive OPK.  Lots of luck to ya!!!

  2. It sounds like you ovulated on the 18th. CM is the better indicator of ovulation. A positive OPK just means that you had an LH surge, but it doesn't mean ovulation. You can still get LH surges but not actually ovulate. If you do, it will be 12-36 hours after your first positive OPK.

Since you got a positive OPK on the night of the 15th, I think you ovulated on the 18th by the sounds of your CM.

    Good luck!
