Is CP Rail in Canada a takeover/merger target?

A while ago it was announced that CP Rail was being looked at by Brookfield Asset Management as a possible aquisition. I guess it was just speculation, but what are the chances that Canadian Pacific gets bought out by or merges with an American rail carrier?
