  1. Caffeine is a drug. However this substance is found in other drinks and foods as well. However if we banned it millions would never wake up and get their day going. There has also been a lot of new data that as far as coffee is concerned has a lot of great health benefits when drinked in moderation. There are also a lot of small coffee concepts where you can buy coffee if you do not like Starbucks and still receive a great quality beverage. http://coffeefranchisereviews.org has a lot of information on cofffee shops and other health oriented information about coffee shops and coffee in general. I also believe there a site http://thecoffeemakers.net that goes deeper on health issues of coffee.. Also http://www.fitatlantamagazine.com    (Fit Atlanta Magazine)  had an article where drinking 2 cups of coffee daily may help prevent diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease. The article is a great read if you can find it. Amazingly the benefits were even better for drinking coffee for the women.

So please don't band the only substance that keeps going through the day. Coffee has a lot of positive benefits. Great on a long road trip!

If you are concerned about the caffeine in coffee try decaffeinated coffee. I recommend the swiss water process method that should be indicated on the package. Interestly the health benefits are still there.

    Great question!

  2. I think caffeine is fine.. It doesnt alter your perceptions or judgement and its not overly addictive.. Now marijuana alters a healthy mind, cocaine destroys your heart and brain, heroine is utterly addictive and can kill, alcohol can be a real killer too(maybe worse than all drugs).. Its funny but alcohol being such a big american past time to me is the ultimate destroyer.. It killed my grandfather and caused so many problems for people i knew growing up.. A relative of mine spent 5 years in state for a blackout crime he didnt remember..

  3. coffee makes you paranoid.

    Good for a trip tho.

    Drugggggggssssss!!!!!

  4. It matters what you call a drug. It is a simulant, so I consider it a drug. It would make sense to ban it health-wise, but can you imagine how mad everyone would be? It would be the Prohibition years all over again, except internet would make the organized crime wave even stronger.

  5. no its not a drug and we shouldnt ban it

  6. it does affect the Central Nervous System as a stimulant but its mild in small doses but in today's society its getting out of control!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  all these b12 energy shots, Monster, Red Bull, Rock star............ its ludicrous i think that stuff should be moderated and banned from minors

  7. Some people do consider it a drug, but unlike marijuana and other drugs, it does not affect you ability to do things and you do not get the same "high" off of it. So it is not dangerous. Hope this makes sense.

  8. Yes it is a drug and no we shouldn't ban it. If people want to consume it, what business is it of yours? It isn't harming you.

While it is possible to OD on excessive caffeine intake, it is very rare. You'd have to drink an awful lot: http://www.energyfiend.com/death-by-caff...

  9. Caffeine is not a drug. It is a naturally occuring substance. It also is not a stimulant on it's own like people think. It actually helps to transport sugars around our body. The more sugar and caffeine in our system the greater the effects are that we see.

In today's society where most of the liquids consumed are coffee, soda, tea, and energy drinks, and chocolate too, we are simply over doing it. People need to cut down on this and increase the amount of water, juice, and milk they drink. Another issue with getting too much caffeine is that it also dehydrates us. This can lead to mental and physical tiredness and problems for the skin and organs.

  10. Try living in Seattle... Tully's and Starbucks everywhere- I like now how they are marketing choc with coffee even on t.v. and they are having reduced sales so now they put energy boosts in coffee for 50 cents more. Do you really think coffee needs an energy boost. I am all for coffee and don't feel its a drug but some people go overboard and crave it to the point of an addict. I have seen 3 starbucks stands in one shopping center??!

  11. what the government should ban is Salvia

  12. I think a ban on tobacco would be priority over caffeine... either way, there'd be a bunch of grumpy people in this world!!

  13. It's a drug, sure, but not a particularly dangerous one (in moderation). It's certainly better than an equivalent amount of alcohol.

Plus I think there would be huge riots in the street if caffeine was banned... bathtub coffee... all sorts of crazy stuff...

  14. Think of all the grumpy people with out their morning cup of coffee

  15. yes,  no.
