Is California really the best U.S. State?

Since I was born, California has always been called the golden state and the best state to live in.

Is this true?

Is there really nothing to do in states like North Dakota or Wyoming?

  1. California is the best state... but what is your true definition of the BEST state?

Higher state and sales taxes, higher property taxes, higher property values, congested freeways, impacted populace, insane pollution, crime... the list goes on.  In this regard, yes California is the best.

If you are looking for opportunity, education, beautiful weather, access to different climates within a 2 hour drive, shopping, cuisine, traditional tourist venues... then yes California is the best.

So my theory is that both of these cross each other out and equals that California is NOT the best US State... it is a great one -- not the best one.

I've lived here my entire life and LOVE California, but I have learned to hate it too.

I think the grass is greener on the other side... for most people.... unfortunately certain areas are not worthy of human habitation.

With that said....North Dakota and Wyoming are beautiful states and have so much to offer in regards to natural untouched beauty...and more.

Visit California, see if it is right for you.  When you visit, don't get sucked into the outer beauty... look for the inner beauty --- if you can find it.

  2. Hahah thats a good queston.  I live in California too.  I visited New York though, and i liked it a lot there.  They have a better layout then California i think.  I really liked there subways

  3. California is not the best state to live in. I can't wait to get the h**l out of here.

  4. Many people stay in California because they can't afford to leave. When I lived there I wound up commuting to other cities because I couldn't find a job in my own city, no doubt because no quiero hablar espanol. California is a mole on the *** of the United States.

When I lived there, the cities I went to had to be over 50% Mexican. The children in the districts spoke mostly Spanish, but the Mexicans were catered to because they have the biggest population. The education is truly awful. And you will stick out like a sore thumb if you move to the Southern half of the state amongst the Hispanics.

My decision to leave my $920/rent apartment in California for a 1,500 sq ft house in Wisconsin for less money was the best decision I ever made.
