  1. Aliens are from outer space.  Foreigners are from other countries.  So, aliens are farther away.

    In the USA, insurance is regulated on a state by state basis.  A foreign insurer, is an insurance company from another state.  An alien insurer, is farther away - from another country.

    A Canadian insurer is an alien insurer.

    Hope that helps you remember which is which.
