Is Canada still part of the UK?

I was just wondering if Canada is still part of the UK or if they are completely independent. I was on xbox live and some Canuks and Limeys got in a fight about it. Is Canada connected to Britain in any way or are they utterly and completely separate?

Canada is a member of the British Commonwealth.  Canada is independent in terms of writing its own laws and governing itself, but its head of state is the governor general who is the queen's representative.
