Is Canary Wharf a good location for a London vacation?

I'll be in London Christmas week, and there seems to be more options in Canary Wharf than elsewhere. I am looking to rent a nice apartment instead fo staying in a hotel.

  1. it will be dead quiet xmas week, canary wharf is the centre of the business district and everybody will be on there holidays.

stay in the west end, you will have a lot more fun, as for an apartment for a week, that may be hard to find and if you do it will be well expensive (especially in canary wharf)

  2. Yeah, not bad - but its abit east. If you wanna go see the sights and shopping etc. you might wanna be abit more central.

Also during rush hour - getting in and out of Canary Wharf will be a nightmare - its a built up office district.

Also, theres not alot in canary wharf in terms of shops etc. and some of the surrounding areas are abit rough and ready - Canning town, new cross etc.

Good places to base yourself would be Bayswater, Chelsea, South Kensington - These are really nice areas, lots of local amenities and really close to everything.

These areas might be quite expensive though, but I thought Canary wharf was also - out of interest what sort of rents are you be looking at in Canary Wharf ?

**ed** actually, yeah - see below - a hotel in the west end might be your best bet.
