  1. Lots of people love Canon. I'll never buy another piece of c**p anything from them. You can't go wrong with Sony.


  2. The Canon HG10 is a fine camcorder.

    Be aware that it records to its hard drive using AVCHD compression and format. Many video editors may not be able to handle that unless it is the most current version of that video editor (and MovieMaker still can't handle it).

    Personally, I would not buy anything but a miniDV tape based camcorder because of image quality issues associated with applying so much compression as the first stet of the process... but some people seem to be OK with them.

    I have not yet see a pro using one... They generally use miniDV tape.
