  1. This should answer your question

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMZfdCkYP...

Funniest thing i've seen in a long time

  2. all show, will get demolished in a ring or a cage, boxer or a wrestler, does not matter, even a jiu jitsu fighter will put him to shame..... a quik KO or SUB no matter what kind of mma fighter is in front of him

  3. i have one word for you- wesley snipes

  4. Believe me capoeira is not just for show they mayb really flashy but wat they do hurts like h**l!!! i still have bruises on my ribs from sparring with a capoeira fighter but ya its not just show i submitted him in 2 mins with a kamora(bent arm bar) they rnt just for show seriously.

  5. I must admit my Capoeira training has been minimal. I've trained primarily in different karate styles, judo, and aikido. Judging from my experience capoeira would do very poorly against those arts, but any systematic fighting style can be used effectively if trained properly.

  7. I can't say that I have ever sparred a Capoeirista (?) but from what I have seen I can honestly say that I would not want to take a kick from one. Sure the tumbling and acrobatics seems a little... iffy, for a real fight situation but those suckers can KICK.

If you watch enough roda (basically capoeira sparring matches) you will see a lot of interesting take downs from unexpected angles due to the use of their hands on the ground.

There is a lot of technique behind the style and without sufficient training I wouldn't expect many people to see past the flash and lack of contact and recognize the technical nature of the art.

As for your question, it depends on the fighter and not the style. This is just another "which style is better/who would win between" kind of question. Sorry mate, there just isn't an answer that would hold much basis in reality.

Edit: The link is pretty hilarious. But not exactly a fair representation of a capoeira artist fighting. I don't really believe that a capoeira fighter going up against any other styled fighter would be naive enough to think that they would be granted the time to flip around and show boat acrobatics.

  8. It's just a sad excuse for men to pick other men as their dance partners.

  9. I'm going to use a big word here, so maybe go get your pocket dictionary:

    Obfuscation.

Capoeira was designed to appear as a dance to allow slaves to train to fight without being perceived as a threat by the owners/traders.

The dance itself carries certain principles within the techniques. What you do in the roda isn't what you'd do in a fight (I have no idea why so many people have this "Training is fighting" mentality. It's plain foolish. Do decent Karateka go into kiba-dachi when they get into a fight?). Ginga carries the rhythm of the fight and sets you in a mobile stance, Au would act as a sort of ukemi, etc...

In a fight, it's all about who's better at that moment. The style has little to nothing to do with it. I mean, since you're asking about "ju-jitsu" vs. capoeira like many other fools who don't train, I'll assume you're mistaking BJJ for jujutsu. So yes, the BJJ guy could move in and force a submission by rushing forward on him, but a Queda de Tres could well obstruct an advance.

As for the poster who so wonderfully showed a video clip from Youtube, good job. You found a clip from Never Back Down. Gee, when a movie script is involved and a no name mook is up against a main character, who's going to win? Tough question, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Never doubt what you simply don't understand.

  10. There are those that can really fight with it. It appears to many of us as not being practical. But that is the beauty of the art. It is very deceptive in nature. It is a well played chess game. They show you their hand, but the attack comes from where you least expect it. They can also have some very interesting strikes from the closest range without you ever seeing it come. I've seen it up close and know some who train in this art, but it is not for me.

Who would win is an easy one. The best fighter that day. Styles don't win fights, but fighter wins fights.

  11. I am sorry to say this. your a dork. you probably have never seen what capoeira is like in a real fighting type situation. I fight mma now but long before that me and a friend of mine would beat the c**p out of each other sparring. one of the forms he use to use was Capoeira. the fighting stance of a  Capoeira fighter is very low with the hips back and always moving from side to side. it makes it very difficult to hoot in on them with out getting your head shoved in to the ground. yes it has openings like all martial arts but i am willing to bet a good amount of cash that person who trains Capoeira for the purpose of self defense will kick the c**p out of an untrained fighter. remember not all martial arts are about beating an opponent in the ring or cage but to defend against an idiot who wants your wallet or thug who thinks he owns his ex girl friend and wants to beat the guy she is flirting with. as bas rutten stated all you need to have to beat an untrained fighter is cardio because adrenalin will gas him/her out in seconds.

  12. lateef crowder can. look him up. other than him though nobody can.

  13. Capoeira is a very good martial art that will improve all of the other martial arts you do.  You must understand that it was created in a time that the people of it's county were not allowed to practice fighting or even have things to fight with, such as shovels.  So it will not stand up to MMA, but you can defend yourself with it.

I would have to say the better fighter.  If the Capoeira fighter lands a solid kick, it is over, but if the Jujitsu fighter takes him down, it is over.
