Following their draw against AJ Auxerre on Sunday, PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti has lashed out at his players for not showing the right attitude which could cost the team dearly in future. The Italian should also take a look at his tactical decisions
On Sunday night, Montpellier Herault suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat away to Lorient. the defeat gave Paris Saint-Germain a great chance of going level on points if they managed to win http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 at Burgundy.
The task seemed achievable considering Auxerre’s lowly position in the standings. However, the game turned out to be an eye-opener for PSG as they were held to a 1-1 draw.
Never before, has Carlo Ancelotti berated his players during his time at Paris Saint-Germain. However, the former AC Milan manager was clearly annoyed to see his side fail to put up a good show against AJ Auxerre who levelled the game in the final minutes.
The Italian tactician has asked his players to “sufficiently change their attitude”. Indeed the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager can logically blame his players for making many bad choices over the course of the game. However, he should not be saved from criticism
either as he carries a heavy responsibility whenever PSG falter.
Panic attack?
Ancelotti’s coaching skills were thoroughly challenged in recent defeats. If his starting XI looks quite attractive and has put question marks on Pastore’s importance, the Italian’s choices during last few games seem to have totally destabilised PSG’s rearguard
which had never been so shaky before this season.
After playing so well as a centre-back for 80 minutes, Milan Bisevac was asked to play as a right-back to accommodate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-c11058 Lugano who came in place of Bodmer.
“I chose to enter Lugano because we had lost control of the match and for utilising their aerial ability,” said Ancelotti in a press conference.
In the end, it was Bisevac and Lugano who were unable to hold off a dribbling Kossoko as Auxerre scored a well-deserved equaliser.
A few minutes earlier, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maxwell-c25051 who was apparently injured. This meant that the defence was totally reshuffled.
Certainly, these introductions were something you would not come to expect of an Italian coach.
Even the PSG bench was dominated by defenders. Apart from Luyindula and Pastore, the bench was made up of defenders (Armand, Ceara, Lugano and Sakho).
In cases such as these ones, it is better to refrain from making such hasty changes which can affect the team’s chemistry. Only the introduction of Pastore in the game could be logically explained.
Gameiro should play more often
The game also posed question marks on Ancelotti’s inclination to leave out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Gameiro-c20721. The former Lorient man was everywhere in the attack for PSG. Though he was given a chance due to Guillaume Hoarau’s suspension, Ancelotti should now consider putting
the Frenchman in his starting XI more often than not.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345 was uncharacteristically poor on Sunday night and every now and then, chose to come in the central midfield.
Signs of pressure
All in all, the game was a poor tactical showing and rather than publicly criticising his players, Ancelotti should do well to look at the way he has been tinkering with players in between games.
From a man like Carlo Ancelotti, one cannot expect panic attacks and the last few games have shown that the Italian is certainly feeling the heat as the race for the Championelle enters its final few stages where there will be lot of twists and perhaps,
even more turns.
