Question:

Is Charred Metal Pot Poisonous ?

My metal pot was charred when I overcooked some stew. The walls and bottom of the metal pot has black and burnt food that sticks to it. I used a steel wool to scrap all off. After cleaning, I noticed that the metal has changed colour. It has hues of red, yellow and purple. I guessed the metal has oxidised.. but I was wondering whether it will poison future cooking ?

  1. Just broke my old cast iron stewpot.

It had a nice coat of carbon & was "seasoned " just right.

The discoloration on a  non no stick steel pot is just from overheating & will not hurt you .
