Question:

Is Chelsea's midfield bearing a slight resemblance to the Galacticos of Real Madrid?

They have Ballack, Lampard, Deco and could get Robinho very soon.

And unlike what Chelsea fans feared, they're working together quite well. Unlike the original Galacticos, they don't look like they'll fall apart. They play like they were in the same team for years.

Do you think Chelsea are favourites to take it all, with Man Utd's dependence on Ronaldo (A Scolari pupil by the way) beginning to show?

  1. What Chelsea has is a WORKING MIDFIELD unlike the one Real Madrid had.

It's clear that now Deco is the boss of the midfield. All the play goes through him. This was a masterstroke by Scolari as now Ballack and Lampard can finally play together without getting into each others way. Robinho may not be utilized as a striker i guess, he'll feature in a more forward role probably as a support striker or a wing forward.

  2. yes but not a joke like madrid turned out to be.

  3. I've been quite impressed by Deco! Glad he in the PL, but I aint sure if they gona run away with it all. Can't wait for the rest of the season to unfold!

  4. Wait until things start going wrong again and Abramovich leaves them high and dry!!

  5. They have exactly the same symptom as Real Madrid in which their midfield is glittering with attack-minded superstars who are individualistic and cannot really be mixed together in a team.

I think the fact that they have so many superstars that they must bench either one of those big names, it is a sign that they are moving towards the galactico phase just like what Real Madrid experienced.

It would be best if Scolari, or Roman Abramovich for that matter, realizes this and try to fox this problem, perhaps by purchasing a defensive minded players, and to be exact, they have to purchase a world class defensive midfielder who plays as well as Makelele in that role.

I would call this "football inflation" where a club has grown so much that it has reached a point where any further growth would just be detrimental for the club.

So either they get out of this by purchasing a Makelele like player or trim the midfield by selling some of the players.

Otherwise, Chelsea would be facing the same fate as Real Madrid, especially with Abramovich's attitude which is quite similar to Florentino Perez at that time (meddling in first team affairs especially in the transfer dealings)

  6. Yes it is.

But Chelsea have players who get goals from midfield, like Lampard, Cole, Ballack; while in Real Madrid, its their strikers like Raul and vanNistelrooy who are the scoring machines.

  8. this year, every EPL teams are stuffed cuz of Abramovic's crazy money spending. good for Chelsea but others are screwed.

  9. Yes, firstly they got makelele from real madrid (now essien has kind of taken his place, like madrid, they persist in bringing in big names like robinho, deco and ballack. Kaká would complete the transformarion.

I do think this makes chelsea title favourites.
