Question:

Is Chemistry as Hard as they say?

Well. I am a high school sophomore (10th grade). I really want to take chemistry this year alongside Algebra 2, but I am not to keen on math. In order to stay in Honors Chemistry I have to maintain a B+ average, which here is a 90 or above, in Algebra 2. It is a weird situation that I am in because when I am solving scientific equations math comes naturally to me, but outside of the science lab math may as well be a foreign language... so my question is should I have a problem with chemistry or would you actually wait and take chemistry next year after I know that I have done well enough in Algebra 2 to stay in Honors Chemistry?

  1. I would not recommend anyone to take chemistry check rateyourteachers.com.  it depends on your teach and how difficult they are.

  2. if you dont wanna go insane then DONT take chemistry...thats wht i think

but since you like it and realy want to take it then no one's stopping you!

i'v heard that if you are interested in a particular subject then no matter how difficult or boring it is...you will always score good in it and always love it !!! (its the same for me -i luv history but people tell me its very difficult and boring..but i still took it and scored very well and am never bored of it!!)

  3. i really liked chemistry, so who knows. you might as well get it out of the way as soon as possible so you don't have to worry about it when you're applying for colleges and dealing with other things during your jr. / sr. year

  4. Might as well take chemistry if you enjoy it, you'll gain a lot from it. I'm doing final year high school chemistry (in Australia) and although it is challenging, if you study hard it's easy enough to pass.

You don't need to be a genius at maths to understand the math used in chemistry. Balancing equations is pretty simple. Stoichemistry is pretty easy as well. If you're in an Honors class now you should be able to pick up the mathematical concepts very easily.

    All the best.
