My minor is Psychology. I am just wondering about this to see if I should keep this major or change it.

  1. To get into med school, you'll need to have all the pre-requisite math and science courses, regardless of what your major is.  You'll also need at least a 3.5 GPA and high MCAT scores, along with good recommendations from profs who know you well and, ideally, some work experience paid or volunteer] in the field.

There's a guide, "Medical School Admissions Requirements" that lists the med schools and their admission requirements.  I saw it yesterday at the local library.

Your major won't hurt when it comes time to do a pediatric clerkship in med school, although you will probably study some of the same material in med school.

Just a thought:  since you seem to be interested in kids and psychology, you might want to consider child psychiatry as a specialty.  There are not enough docs in this specialty and, although psychiatry is one of the lower-paying specialties, pediatrics is not that much higher on the income ladder.

    Good luck to you!
