  1. when you arrive if booked in to a hotel give maids monry or a small gift and they will show you around and keep you safe but is is a good place and just keep your money cloce to you

  2. I've never had trouble there, but I'm a regular traveler and don't put myself in unsafe situations.

Travel smart and you'll have a great time.

  3. WELL LAST TIME MY FRIEND WAS STOPPED IN MEXICO AND THE COPS TOLD HER TO GIVE THEM $200.  MAYBE IN CHILE IS THE SAME THING IF THEY KNOW UR A TOURIST YOUR "FRESH MEAT" TO THEM. DONT TRAVEL ALONE!!!!!!!!

  4. if you have to ask that kind of question, maybe you should visit miami instead....

  5. Chile is safer than Miami.  It is probably the safest place in Latin America.  Nothing will happen, there is very little crime, if you are at crowded bus stations, you should watch for pickpockets.  There is not much violence at all and once you get out of Santiago, there is nothing.  I biked from Vina del Mar down to Puerto Varas -  There was not even a single second of uncomfortable situations.

  6. this is for the police comment, i just want to say that the police in Chile are in no way corrupt. they take great pride in their professionalism. and are more then willing to help you out and are pretty friendly.

as far as traveling alone in Chile, its very safe. i was there visiting family 2 years ago. and i traveled all over by myself. and normally I'm always a little nervous going anywhere by myself. but i felt so safe. i walked all over Santiago,  Valparaiso, Vina Del mar. and not one problem. people are very friendly and love Americans.  there is low crime.

but just like any place you travel, it is a good idea to try and not stick out or act too touristy.

have fun....its a great place to visit! :D

  7. Yes, of course. I think you will not have any problem. If you to find travel agencies, restaurants, hotels, entertainment places and more see in http://www.e-ventoslink.com.ar

  9. Not onlyis Chile a safe place but their policemen (carabineros) are the most well repsected police force I;ve ever seen. Not only they will NOT accept bribes but you have to be crazy to offer them one as you will be sent to the police station immediately. I have been 7 times to Chile (Santiago and regions) and the provinces are very very safe. In Santiago there is a slightly higher crime rate, mainly house robbers in the rich neighbourhoods.

As long as you dont advertise you are a tourist (Flashy camera hang on neck, map in hand, etc) then you are ok. Chile is one of the safest places in South America right now. If you are in trouble in Chile, or feel iunsecure, llokm for a policeman, they are the equivalent of superman over there!

  10. The people in Chile are very friendly and will help you find your way if lost! The only thing i would say is though ...it is not a good time to visit Santiago, their 'New' transit system is soooo messed up , you can be waiting for hours on a bus!! It is so bad i saw ( got the channel on sat) this policeman actually push the last person on the bus so it could close its doors!!! Other than that it is a very beautiful country!!
