Depends on what you mean, military, or economic.

Economically they will become a mega power, but they won't do it alone, but rather by forming an Asian Economic Union, like what the European countries have.  

Asia has vast untapped resources and a huge labor force, more they any other place on the planet.  Plus, since all the c**p that happened there from the 50's through parts of the 80's, (really going back several centuries) Asia has seemed to have grown up and instead of waging economic busting wars, they have learned to compete in the market place, which is far more stable.

China owes much of its success to planning.  Through a series of one and five year plans they have become an economic powerhouse in the span of 30 years.  Other countries have looked into that and are emulating them, one of them is India.  If the USA was smart, we'd do the same, but the only plans I know of in the USA are Cheneys energy plan and that was held in secret.  China's plans are transparent and at the very least, the average Chinese know they exist, and at most, they know them in detail.  Even you can see them with a simple net search.

As far as military, that simply will not happen.  China is not an imperialistic power.  The last invasion they had was of Vietnam in the late 70's when they were giving China a lot of trouble on their southern boarder.  After repeated warnings, China went in and spanked them, then one month to the day later left in total, slamming the door on the way out and telling them if it happened again, they'd be back.

China has virtually no experience with waging war.  The invasion I mentioned above, two weeks into the war they became bogged down and had to regroup.  That was due mostly to their inexperience and bad planning.  Which also proves the point, that economics are far easier to plan, wars are not.

What China is doing with its military is modernizing it, which is sorely needed.  They even have planes in their air force which date back to WWII.  They believe in a defensive military, unlike the USA which can wage offensive wars.

China has also made a pledge to the world that they will not invade a sovereign nation.  (NOTE: Taiwan and Tibet are not considered sovereign by the UN and most counties - Tibet is an autonomous region of China, like our territories are, and they have a right to put down rebellions there, just like we have in our territories.)  China has also stated they believe in a countries right to self determination.  In both case, the USA has made no such pledges or declarations.

The USA could learn so much from China, but we choose to vilify her instead of learn by her.  That is going to prove to be a huge mistake.

NOTE: Capitalism, socialism and communism are economic models.  It is impossible that China is communistic, since it has, arguably, the most capitalistic economic system on the planet.

Also, to the person above me, China isn't communist.  They label themselves "Communist," but their current style of government isn't the one Karl Marx wrote of in the Communist Manifesto.  And it hasn't been working, they've tried to work some form of free enterprise back into the system to some degree.

China is a bottomless pit of consumerism which is entering a growth phase that will make our own industrial revolution look tame because of the shear numbers. The South Africans have entered into a very close trade partnership and have shared their knowledge and expertise in every field with the Chinese. An example is the oil from coal technology and SASOL have built a huge facility for them in China. There are already shortages of raw polymer in South Africa and the price has shot through the roof because there is so much demand. China is investing heavily into struggling and emerging economies throughout the world and already have a stranglehold over many of these countries-Sudan for example. Why do you think the west does nothing about Tibet? China is already superior in numbers, have nuclear weapons,have the latest technologies and a cheap,disciplined workforce. After the earthquakes recently,there was no looting,no selfishness,blood banks had to close after 48 hours due to being filled to capacity. The roads heading into the affected region were jammed with people trying to get in to help and not from fleeing cowards.Absolutely an example to the world. Look how the gypsies looted during our own floods recently.The sleeping tiger awakes but this we have heard for 30 years-all part of a plan.

I am sure that the Chinese are not going to force you eat your children like the Bible God does it forcing people to eat their own children in the Land Flowing with Milk and Honey! We are a NATION UNDER GOD... so don't worry about the Chinese, worry about the Christians!

This primitive God offers you a lesson at the expense of the innocent children for the utter enjoyment of any child predator! Paradoxically, Christians are banning ALL ABORTIONS so there will be more children for dinner! Spiritually speaking, of course…!

The Bible God's sadistic BDSM pleasures are the kinkiest ones ever to be invented in human history...!!! Throughout the Bible God (not the atheists!) has the pleasure of forcing you to eat your own children for dinner...!!! Christians feel that the DEVIL is seeding this information in the Bible to confuse them! And anybody can understand that! Fundamentalist Evangelicals force Christians read the Bible in an obscure King James Version so any gross savagery in the Bible can be explained away much easier!

Deuteronomy 28:53-57 - Because of the suffering that your enemy will inflict on you during the siege, YOU WILL EAT THE FRUIT OF THE WOMB, THE FLESH OF THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS THE LORD YOUR GOD HAS GIVEN YOU* (*God won’t protect the innocent children that he gave you, but you will enjoy eating them…!!! Praise the LORD! Sweet Jesus! Amen?). Even the most gentle and sensitive man* (*not a homosexual or a Godless atheist, but a chosen child of God!) among you will have no compassion on his own brother or the wife he loves or his surviving children* (*after eating some of the youngest ones!), and he will not give to one of them any of the flesh of his children that he is eating…  (this is strangely unChristian, but isn’t this primitive God’s provision for his chosen people so wonderful in the Land Flowing with Milk and Honey?!)

These are not the only few episodes of FACTUAL eating children in the Bible!!! Here is another one that you can’t possible “spiritualize” or whatever catch word that the Fundamentalist Evangelicals use to explain away anything embarrassing in the Bible!!!

2 Kings 6:26-29 (NIV) As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, “Help me, my lord the king!” The king replied, “If the Lord does not help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor? From the winepress?” Then he asked her, “What's the matter?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give up your son so we may eat him today, and tomorrow we'll eat my son.’ So we cooked my son and ate him. The next day I said to her, ‘Give up your son so we may eat him,’ but she had hidden him.”* (*Isn’t this CHEATING? No wonder God has to punish this EVIL CHEATING people! You ought to SHARE all that God gives you! Amen?)

These were “compassionate* (*Godly, non-Atheistic) women that HAVE COOKED THEIR OWN CHILDREN”...!!! All in all, God appears to be a loving God even today! The Bible writers know how to promote this primitive GOD better than anybody promoting a commercial product anywhere in the world! Check this commercial!  

Isaiah 49:15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I* (*God) WILL NOT FORGET YOU!* (Yeah... this sadistic SOB will make you eat your own babies!)

Christians love to worship this Bible God, but only on his good Holy side! I am not quoting an obscure isolated verse in the Bible, but eating your own children for dinner is part of the Bible theme that the clergy know how to hide from public knowledge so they can still market Christianity in the world today! It takes YEARS OF BIBLE SCHOOLING to do so!

Surprisingly the Bible still WORKS TODAY!  Christians tell you that Jesus was whipped, and beaten, and thoroughly marinated in Roman spit, and nailed to a Holy Cross as a “spotless Lamb of God.” Then you MUST EAT THE MEAT AND DRINK THE HOLY BLOOD of the Son of God for real, symbolically or otherwise in the Holy Communion to make it into his Heavenly Kingdom! The idea of eating sons and daughters has been conditioned for the religious mind all along in the Bible! If you are lucky enough God will only KILL your children without you having to eat them!!! The Bible also promotes the killing of infants to get rid of future enemies of God!!!

Psalm 137:8-9 - O Daughter of Babylon, doomed to destruction, happy is he who repays you for what you have done to us- he who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks.

The Bible teaches that the enemies of God ought to be killed in their infancy when it is easier to get rid of them (Amen?) So abortion is not remotely that bad. In fact, IT IS VERY HUMANE...!!! Notice “humane” versus “Godly.” Godly requires that the fetus be born before it can be destroyed as an infant!!! The Bible is mute on abortions because abortions were unsafe in Bible times and that is why it deals with killing CHILDREN after they are born when it hurts the most!!! Too bad that the news media doesn’t get involved in objective reporting of the religious doctrines in the Bible! By the way, God the Son Jesus Christ is hardly any better!

Revelation 2:23 (NIV) (Jesus says) I WILL STRIKE HER CHILDREN DEAD* (*No abortionist can beat Jesus at killing babies… AMEN? Sweet Jesus is the one having the pleasure of doing the killing of children so he can teach everybody a lesson on WHO IS THE BOSS! The Clergy earned millions printing books about Jesus love for the little children of the world without telling anybody about Jesus’ vicious children killing craze. In our society today he would be in jail for promoting the killing of children to favor a particular religion!!!). Then ALL THE CHURCHES WILL KNOW that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.* (*I’m the BOSS says Jesus! Praise the LORD! Sweet Jesus… He is such a great teacher and he must have learned all that from the Mafia!... or is it the way around?)

Most preachers study ONLY the Bible stories that make them look good and are good at making money for their particular Christian brand… and charities, of course! They manage to fool a whole NATION LIKE THE USA TO TRUST AND SUBMIT UNDER THIS PRIMITIVE BIBLE GOD. They are pushing this gross sadistic God masquerading as “JESUS LOVES YOU” and “GOD LOVES YOU” on the whole World! Today we need a better Bible more in accord with factual science and realistic moral values if religion needs to survive!

It is a proven fact that Christians don’t know how to deal with plain FACTS either from science or from their own Bible! I am also concerned about my personal integrity… Some Christians are not much different from Muslims defending their faith! IF THERE IS A REAL BIBLE GOD LET HIM (NOT YOU!) STRIKE ME DEAD like he does so often in so many Bible stories!!! Feel free to copy and file to share this answer with anybody interested before it gets deleted…!
