Is China an attractive venue for upcoming golf tournaments?
Like the United States and Europe, China is rapidly becoming a hot spot for golf tournaments.
The Volvo China Open is about to start and is gaining attention for being staged on the Binhai Lake Golf Club, from April 19 to 22, 2012.
Last year, this European Tour and OneAsia Tour co-sanctioned event was played at the Luxehills International Country Club.
China is the next hot spot for golf tournaments. There are many courses that are designed to host major events, as they have appealing features.
Being one of the best courses, Binhai Lake has its importance among players. The course is located in Tianjin and has A1 / A4 Creeping Bentgrass, which is available on some golf courses in China.
Grass height on the greens is 3.25mm and players can enjoy the firm greens. On the other hand, the 9mm fairways are also not easy to forget. The fairways are the most important feature for any golf course, and Binhai Lake has amazing fairways.
It was designed by Dye Design in a way that golf players will feel comfortable while playing. There are several bunkers, roughs, sand hurdles, trees, cold and dry weather. All the added features are making the China Open site one of the favourites.
The most special feature of this course is the wooden sleepers bordering the bunkers and the additional numbers of water hazards with exposed trees throughout the course.
This is the site of Volvo China Open, whereas there are many other golf courses that are forcing me to speak in favour of them.
Starting with the Dunes at Shenzhou Peninsula, which is an exciting venue located in Wanning, Hainan Island, South China. Tom Weiskopf is the proud designer of this site.
Every player dreams of playing on this course, as it was ranked on the third place among the top-10 New International Golf Courses by U.S Golf magazine, in 2010.
The marked words written in the Golf Magazine are: "This gently contoured Tom Weiskopf design is built entirely on natural sand. Among the enticements are artfully sculpted bunkers and transition areas, boulder outcroppings and several memorable holes along
the South China Sea, including the drivable par-4 15th and the rugged par-4 16th which hugs a wide, empty beach, with waves loudly lapping at the right side".
After this appealing site, the Spring City Golf & Lake Resort is also favourite in the region. Jack Nicklaus has designed the course and made it a perfect golfing place.
It has a stunning lake view and mountain backdrop. It was designed to attract different golf championships and has luxury villas for the visitors. It is also ranked among the top-100 world class courses in the Golf Digest.
China also has the world's largest golf course by the name of Mission Hills Shenzhen. The course has created a record and appeared in the Guinness World Records, which highlights its importance.
The Omega Mission Hills World Cup and Asian Amateur Championship were played on this site in the past, and both had attractive results.
Similarly, another top-ranked course is the Jinshi Golf Club, located in Dalian, Liaoning Province, Northeast China.
It is China's first water front golf course and is also ranked among the top-100 courses. Pleasant weather and amazing fairways are the added features of this course.
There are many other top class courses like the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club, Sheshan International Golf Club, Mission Hills Haikou, Pine Valley Golf Resort & Country Club and Dragon Lake Golf Club.
