  1. who really knows, they are definitely good, but I must admit I am also a bit skeptical at times

  2. as much as i dont like to admidt it cause of the fact they hate americans......yes they are very good. and they start training when they are little kids, going to elementery schools where they learn there sport. basically they breed them to be perfectionest atletes

  3. Mostly because they are good, and add in a dash of cheating.

They've always been good, but since their hosting they trained harder so they wouldn't look like a bunch of fools.

    TEAM USA!!!

  4. It's hard to say = China has a corrupt government (I know... we all do in some fashion) but to say the gymnast are under age, when most have competed in past events 3 years ago when they were 10, only to magically be 16 at the time of the Olympics only for the Chinese Gov't to legally alter a Passport would be considered cheating if the rule is applied for a restricted age...

I don't think there should be an age restricition for the Olympics - we should always be able to send the best of the best, you either have control/focus or you don't....

But after watching the beam event last night - the judging was awful - disagree with me all you want, but an honest person would admit that the chinese winning the bronze last night was a gift. The Americans deserved gold & silver - but Russia or Romania deserved the bronze...

  5. They'll be shot if they don't win - quite an incentive! Seriously though, I think being on your home patch always gives an advantage.

  6. everything the chinese do they give 110%, the olympics is the biggest thing to happen to china for a very long time so they have so they have been determined to get it right. the athletes have worked incredibly hard for these games and they start at a young age to get to they're full potential (too young in my opinion) so yes they are just that good.

  7. i think they have lots of athletes in beijing and that's why they win lots of medals

  8. China is really that good.  I would attribute that to their work ethic and their cultural determination to "save face" as this is their Olympics on home soil.

But I am ashamed that there were obvious judging conspiracies going on in the women's all-around gymnastics even when the world is watching.  In the end, Nastia Liukin (who is awesome to watch) and Shawn Johnson (cute smile!) came out on top, but the chinese were getting favourable points for no reason.  I thought they got rid of the ability for judges to be biased? I guess not!

  9. Wouldn't say Chinese are cheating cause most of the medals they are getting cannot be well cheated in. Sport such that China gets gold medals in are table tennis, badmington, volleyball, and rowing all these events cannot be cheated and are just pure talent.

Sports such as runnining and swimming all which are American's strong fields are high likelyhood of drug cheat use. So personally I think is selfish to keep saying China is cheating cause most of their events cannot implment drugs into that field. If China started winning say swimming and running then people can start having doubts.

People say China are cheating are just pure wrong (maybe some are who knows, its the individual decision not the nation)....China in recent times have just started to have sufficient funds, to fund their sporting arena's and atheletes...more technology implementation, better facilities, better trainers, oversea's trainers...

Its natural that China is getting better as their economy is rising they can get better resources...look at the medal tally China has been increasing in gold medal and total medal count every olympics now...

  10. Yes they are that good.

When you a have pool of 1.3 billion people to find gifted athletes and then you add VERY HARD training, you get that kind of results.

  11. They are really that good.

I am a sport fan and even before the games opened I watched many special programme which compares with all performances in all previous championships already predict the results will take China to the top in gold medal tally...

And I watched many events in this Games, the team China adopt a very successful strategy.  Which if you are keen to know, is first strengthening what your strong sports, try to minimize nasty surprise loss, they did very well in men's gymnastics, diving, weight lifting, table tennis, and it served well, as only surprise loss is in men's badminton

second is trying to push to the front (do just a bit better) in those sports that they almost could get it previously... and they did successfully in such as archery and in some swimming events

finally is taking the advantages for being the host nation and let the guys and girls proved themselves, and there are never short of surprise as the women's hockey team has proven themselves they are the new force to be reckoned with. (from unknown to beating the defending champion Germany), Also with rowing, no ones even expected the women's team will qulify but they got it all the way to gold.

on the other hand, america's dominance in track and field seems to have suffer a bad start in the hands of the Jamaicans.

And it is not just China had a surge in the medal tally, look at Great Britain, they took 4 golds in the cycling and at this moment they sit third on the tally. And no ones accused them for being cheaters, perhaps as long as they are behind us, it is ok?

And please don't accuse another great nation cheating so casually as that gives us all a bad name and make us all look like a sore losers.

Being a nation of 1.3 billions, if they got selected to be in the Olympic team, they really would have to be the best of best, don't they?

  12. they are really good.  they have been training since they were 3 years old for these moments.

  13. They're good, but the judges are consciously or unconsciously giving them a slightly higher scores than they deserve.

They ARE cheating by using 13 and 14 year old gymnasts with fake  documents.

  14. No China isn't cheating.

Like what the others have said, they start off at a young age, and by a certain age, if they cannot fulfill the basic requirements, they'll be kicked out. So there's fierce competition.

Also, if they really did cheat, they will be winning the running events, won't they? They can just take drugs and get away with it. But China did not win a single running event.

Lastly, I think China has a lot of competitors, and they don't need to like fly to another country, which will be costly if you have so many competitors.

Do not assume China is cheating just because they have the most gold medals for now.

  15. They are good

Of course they cannot be 100% clean but you have to credit the athletes' determination

  16. They are great in some places like diving. I do think that they have cheated and that the judges clearly foavored them in some subjective sports. But they are getting to be a really good at a lot of things

  17. why have a passport to prove age?dont you need a birth certificate to get a passport?they didnt cheat as much as the judges clearly sucked on voting.if the crowd cheers does that void a mistake?is that how they voted?thats another question that needs answered

  18. they're really good.

let me note that even if they're under 16, being under 16 doesnt mean that they're by default great gymnasts (proven by both Shawn and Nastia when they won 1-2 at all-around). they bend better, you say? gymnasts arent contortionists. the point of gymnastics is that you can get all the muscles in your body to work together gracefully and do difficult tasks. being bendy won't help you get over the bars (for example).

the chinese athletes havent been found positive for doping and, for the last time, the judges arent being bribed. if they were, china wouldve won alot more events such as the women's all-around

  19. They are just really good. It is so unfair for people to say that they are cheating just because they are good. Like when the U.S. leaded the gold medal count, people did not accuse them of cheating. Racist much?

  20. Tuco is impressed by China.

They have put an athletic program together that is very strong.

Perhaps this with flow over to other aspects of their country and culture.

    Adios.

  21. Talking of cheating, Britains 400 metres gold medal winner Christina Ohuruogu was banned for a year for refusing to take a drugs test on 3 separate occasions.

  22. they have been good for years now, and still improving faster than any other country in the world, especially their boxing and fencing, just check out their bills for foreign coaches.

  23. They're good.  I don't think having under-aged gymnasts had that much of an impact on the results.

  24. You're Just jealous becuase YOU are not in that stadium winning a medal (if you can be bothered to get of your ***)

  25. Both.

Just read this, and spread it around to anyone who honestly believes China isn't cheating.

  26. Some people only watched their gymnastics events, and then read some newspapers that goes on and on about cheating.  Yet they swept like 8 golds in weightlifting, but i guess it never aired in the US because I didn't see a single American athlete.  They only won 2 golds in the female's "controversial" gymnastic events, the other 43 were fantastic achievements and a bit of luck as well.  They won their first ever Sailing (or Boating, whatever it's called) gold medal with some luck, as the Spanish guy screwed up in the end.

  27. It was done differently in China. They looked at all the sports in the Olympics, picked a lot of the weaker sports that did not have much participation - then they identified sporting talent in the kids and then sent the kids to those schools to basically train for that sport. The difference between that and most other countries is that the other countries participate in sports the athletes want to compete in not the sport that was identified by the country as a sport that could be won. That is why you see a lot of gold in the lower weight divisions in weight lifting, shooting archery etc - yet not many in the "main" events - rowing, swimming, track, cycling - they knew those sports were too strong to get people ready in time.

  28. I'm an American Citizen that actually lives in China. So I've been bombarded with propoganda, racist comments from my Chinese friends and all the likes. On the television, they constantly play "Wei Zhong Guo Jia You" advertisements (go China), and the newspapers mostly show pictures of Chinese gold medals, regardless of the fact that many others have won medals on that day. In fact, the only Americans receiving much coverage from the Chinese newspapers are (guess who) Michael Phelps and the American gymnastics team, the only team in the the world strong enough to stand up to the Chinese gymnasts. Or maybe we can call them 'half humans' as that notorious gymnastics critic calls them.

In my opinion, China has cheated. But this is not the only reason that China is succeeding in the Olympics. Despite all the recent hub about China's growing economy and what, the fact still remains that China is a rather unpleasant place. People spit in the streets. There are plastic bags floating everywhere. There's terrible pollution. They have a terrible humans rights record, and still practice racial cleansing in some of the more rural regions of China. They skin animals alive. And some people are just so rude! The Olympics seems to be the only way that China can finally show the world that they can do SOMETHING right.

You have to give them some credit for the opening ceremony. It was pretty awesome. However, by trying to make the opening ceremony 'perfect', they have in turn flawed it. It turns out that most of the 'ethnic children' carrying the chines flag weren't actually from the ethnic minorities. They also included Korea in the ethnic minorities (oopsies). The young girl 'singing' was actually lipsynching, and the fireworks in the sky were mostly fake. Even the pianist didn't actually play the piano. This just displays the true nature of the olympic games: a facade for China to pretend to be some new glorious country.

But onto the cheating scandals. I am fifteen years old. There is NO WAY that those girls on the television are older than me. No way. What I think is that this time, the judges are being sneaky in their biased-ness. They're not over rewarding the chinese teams, rather, they are underrewarding other teams as well. I've seen this in diving as well as the gymnastics. It's not just women's gymanstics, but men's gymnastics too. At the rings yesterday, I was very certain the American athlete was going to win. But he came in second behind the Chinese athlete. You could see the disappointment on his face. He was very angry. He kept shrugging and waving and shaking his head. I knew there was something wrong with the system. The Chinese don't realise that by pursuing their so called 'glory', it has resulted in a huge embarrassment for them, as now they are accused internationally by the likes of us of cheating and biased judging. There was also a case in judo where the Chinese man was pushed out of the line, but did not receive a penalty mark.

But we must also understand. The Chinese are DESPERATE to win these Olympics. God knows how long and how hard they have trained to win this 'glory'. But we cannot always blame china's successes on their biased judging, but also to the attitude of western athletes. Personally, it seems that this year, the American Women athletes (particularly in swimming and athletics) have misjudged and underestimated the women of the world. But I have complete faith in Team USA to train extra hard for the next Olympics and will return to take back those gold medals that should be ours. Team USA all the way!

  29. What do you WANT to hear in response to this question?

It's not a real question, is it?

    It's poking a bee hive.

This is what you want to hear: "China IS cheating. Every single one of their 45 golds is rigged. In fact all 79 medals should be given to the USA, just because... China's a big cheat. Yea..."

  30. They are very good, but it probably helps that they are the hosts. They have crowd support, and there are loads of Chinese people taking part.

  31. In some, I will not deny that they are really good. However, in some, it is so obvious that they are cheating. This is my very fair assessment. I will not kiss anybody's ***.
