I've a friend graduating law school in the coming year and was just wondering if either Chivas Regal 25-Year scotch or the Chivas 21-Year old Royal Salute scotch is a good gift, and also worth the money?

  1. Chivas is a wonderful gift for any occasion, especially to thank someone for giving you the best answer.  ;-)

  2. Either would be a wonderful gift and money well spent only if the person you are giving it to is a Scotch devotee and would appreciate it.  Make sure that they like Scotch first and can tell the difference between regular aged Scotch and fine aged Scotch.

  3. Neither.

Get a bottle of a single malt.

Go to the website below and choose something recommended there:

    PS

If you insist on Chivas Regal, go for 18 years old, it is much better than 25 and it is probably better than Royal Salute 21 years old, which is also better than Chivas Regal 25 year old.

But again, nothing is better than single malt...

  4. Old scotch, especially Chivas or Royal, is a fine gift.  It will cost you, though.
