oposition sides can't touch the bloke at the momment without the ump paying a free kick to him.maybe its because he's considered a soft hang out sort of player, plus i think the media pump this guy up something cronic-yes hes in the best in the comp but the media would have us all believe he's a legend all ready. personally id take his team mate Daniel Kerr over Judd what are your thoughts?

  1. His tagged heavily and most taggers are pretty dirty. he's first at the ball and so he gets the frees. I don't think he's any more protected than the big name forwards.

Overrated? Give credit where credits due. He's a champion player. I probably wouldn't take kerr over judd because judd can kick goals. As for the Lance Franklin vs Judd debate. I'd take big Buddy Franklin. Talls don't come around that often.

  2. He is only now getting the recognition he deserves -

04 won brownlow, we all focused on his gf,

05 - Cousins overshadows him (what a joke),

06 - Everyone had Goodes (the games most over rated player of all time) and Riewoldt (the equal most over rated player of all time, he can only take a chest mark, Auskick players are better),

07 - Finally we hear something about the man who had dominated for over 3 years, won it all and is a great person off the field.

They cant obstruct him while he is going for the ball and their not, read the rules! The media pump him up because he is ... The best midfielder in the comp, one of the highest possesion and goal scoring players, brilliant tackler and hard ball get man. He is Legendary and the best player since Wayne Carey at the Roos. Kerr is top5 material but his offield stuff is disgusting, anyway he doesnt have a hot gf.

Why dont you pick on over rated players - Goodes, Riewoldt and Goodwin not real footballers like Judd

  3. Yes all the time Judd & Kerr get free kicks for no reason. But then again the whole team plays for the free kicks. I hope Da Cats destory them this week.

  4. No I don't think he is protected. The stats say he is (free kicks paid in his favor)...although when watching all their (eagles) games this season as I have, the free kicks are there to be paid. He is very strong through the torso and breaks a lot of tackles, and being skillful as he is, he gets rid of the ball, or breaks the tackle, as evidenced by his spin/break of a opposition tackle, settle and and goal on the weekend against the Bulldogs. I think he plays the game hard and fair, and the free kicks have more to do more with him being hard at the ball, and ball only.

I wasn't sure what you meant with "a soft-hang out sort of player", but soft is not a word I'd associate with Chris Judd, if I got the context correct. I didn't have any stats handy, but as quick and as flashy as he is, he goes in hard for the ball and never gives up, same goes for all that midfield. Lots of hardball gets for Judd and Kerr and the rest. I think that's what gets Judd the respect first, amongst the players, and of course the media, which loves the whole package.

Legend?! - He could have easily had a another Premiership and Brownlow too (1 more goal and a few votes). If he retired today, sporting historians would have to consider him a champion of the game. A legend, I'd agree and say no. In my opinion you need to have won it all at least once and have been at the top day in day out for at least a decade to be considered a legend, although having said that I'd say baring the most amazing form and career reversal, he will be sooner rather than later.

As for taking Kerr over Judd, I suppose it's personal choice. Personally I wouldn't, not at this stage anyway. Kerr's first 5 games were better than Judd this year, but the weekends 6th wasn't. I'm just glad they are both at my club.

    ...real good question mate.

  5. If he played for the team you support you would realise how good he is. He's a ball magnet, if you get the ball as often as he does your bound to get free kicks.

I'm a big time eagles supporter, Kerr and Judd are both great players it's very hard to seperate them. Just hope Juddy doesnt go home at th end of this yr, he is irreplacable
