We certainly didn't have a love for Hitler - we whooped his ****.

We certainly didn't have a big love for the British in the early years - we fought them.

"Soon afterwards, weakened by their newfound love for their enemies, and under fierce attack from invading hordes, the empire began to collapse. As delusions of heaven and h**l replaced rational Greek science, and as justice in this world was replaced by justice in the next world, the entire region descended into a dark age. No claim to knowledge other than what was written in the Bible would be tolerated again throughout the remnants of the empire for more than a thousand years."

  3. No. No. No. For the above answerer. Sorry to disappoint but America was not founded by the Christian belief system and over half of the original signers to the Constitution were atheists or agnostics.

No government should ever be ruled by any faith or look towards that faith to make decisions for millions. Rome was a formidable force for over a 1000 yrs. Why? Yes they believed in many different gods and goddesses and even celebrated festivals in their honor. None of them were mandated by the government. No one was told which ones must be honored other than Cesar himself. The laws and the senate were not congregated by ritual or prayer and was never allowed to be brought in to council ever.

When Rome was in charge of Israel, even the Roman government that over saw much of its legal problems, they never allowed a religion to sway a decision of the law. The Jews were allowed to complain or plead their case based on their beliefs but still needed permission to take action based on their religious beliefs. Not until Christianity take hold did Romes rule start to decline. Other countries that had been ruled and governed prior had been great countries and prospered. But when you add a religion or religious belief in the mix and try to rule based on that belief - with no tangible proof - it allows others to change or take from certain areas by "impression" to change laws or how a government rules which ultimately leads to it's downfall.
