Question:

Is Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse losing touch with modern day football?

He was made to look like an amateur by Carlton's coach, Ratten, last week....& as per usual practice, he & the club's fans blamed the umpires, again!

With all their supposed playing talent, money, state of the arts facilities & promises, Collingwood have not won a premiership in all the years he's been at the club.

I think he will soon be following in Denis Pagan's footsteps.

  1. Micks called your bluff watch the pies smash the dogs on Sunday.

    news flash Mondays headline

PIES BACK IN TOWN, DOGS STILL YELPING!

  2. Mick had a serious health scare last year that he is still recovering from somewhat. Yes he has been around for a long time; It could be that his ideas are getting stale but ultimatly, isn't it up to the players to perform on the field???

  3. No. Are you losing touch with sanity?

  4. Yes. Mick lost touch years ago.

He proves that fact by all the whinging & complaining he does - especially if his team loses. I have never known a senior coach, of any sport, who whinges as much as he does!

  5. I think he may not be as sharp was what he used to be, but he definitely isn't losing touch with the game! Collingwood aren't doing that badly, so I don't think we can really judge him accurately yet.

  6. Yep, he lost touch a fair while ago.

I heard where Swan Hill are looking for a coach for next year. He should apply for that, because no-one else will want him.

  7. no, his done so well 4 us, if u look at our team last year we didnt hav any stars in our team but mick took us 2 a kick of the grand final, n i no he blames the umpires a lot but u gotta admit that brad fisher decision was bullshit n mick will stay coach until mckenna takes over or if mckenna leaves 2 coach anotha team mick will coach till bucks takes over

  8. I'm not convinced that Mick Malthouse is on the way out at the moment.  I think that Collingwood are travelling ok and while they are he'll have a job with the magpies.  It's normally the clubs that aren't achieving much they get rid of their coach ... and I'm surprised that we haven't had a coach be sacked or quit so far this year.

Malthouse does have the talent to get his team to a grand final (as much as it kills me to say that) and if he doesn't soon he may be gone.  There's only so long that clubs will put up with it before they go for someone new.

Collingwood were very unlucky not to win the Preliminary Final last year against Geelong - they played very well and had they have won they would have deserved it.  As a Geelong supporter I'm very pleased that Collingwood didn't win and it's good to know that they were only five points away from winning a grand final.

  9. Yes, he has lost touch with modern day football - but he has not lost his ability to whinge!
