When McCain or Obama takes office, is Condoleezza Rice legally remaining the secretary of state? Or does a new administration automatically choose a new one?

  1. Secretary of state is chosen by the President ....she will no longer be Secretary of state once Bush leaves office unless McCain or Obama asks her to continue.  Usually the new President will select a new S.O.S

  2. Id hit that.  Knuckle up bro

  3. The new President decides who is in his cabinet, so whether she serves (assuming she chooses to serve) for the new administration is up to the new President.

  4. so far in history it has been that way. Every time we get a new president we also get a new secretary of state. President chooses this position and it is a very high position so when you get into office you want it to be someone of your choosing not a former administration's choosing even if that person is from the same party. Plus Rice is so bad there's no way in h**l McCain and especially Obama will let her stay it will p**s off their constituents.
