  1. My first response is to "Jmmnic" who claims that the Democrats have never had a Black person that ranked as high as Condi Rice. Oh how we forget.  During the Clinton Administration, Attorney Vernon Jordan was the equivalent to President Bush's good friend and confidant, Karl Rove. Mrs. Hazel O'Leary ran the Department of Energy, Ron Brown was Commerce Secretary, Franklin Raines was the President/CEO of Fannie Mae, Secretary to the Army was African American and the Surgeon General was a controversial black woman.  It is for these reasons, Clinton is nicknamed America's first Black President; mainly for how he was treated during the Monica Lewinsky investigation. African Americans saw the same type of political vitriol and blood sport that we could identify with if we were dead wrong in the seat of power.  We also saw shortly thereafter, Speaker Livingston, Newt Gingrich and Henry Hyde all step down for their "youthful indiscretions" as described by Henry Hyde the lead prosecuting legislator who had such disgust and disdain for Former President Clinton's infidelity.

The one thing I will have to oblige "Jmmnic" and the Republican Party is that we have yet to see a strong and united party produce such legendary politicians since Frederick Douglas, since the days of abolition.

I would say that diehard Republican Frederick Douglas was the pinnacle of success for Black Republicans. He was a slave and became a free man. Married a white woman and lived in a house on a hill. Now marrying a white woman is not a prize over a black woman, but you have to admit, Douglas had a pair that dragged the ground because many were lynched for even looking at a white woman the "wrong way."  This was a time when all Black America wheather male or female our first and last name was "Boy".  We couldn't get insurance, a loan, much less a house on a prestigous piece of property. He is on record for having lectured at Cornell, Harvard and many Ivy League Universities. He wrote articles, published books and assisted the womens' movement in getting their rights alongside Henry Lloyd Garrison.  Garrison and Douglas teamed up with Elizabeth Cady Stanton to gain traction for all Americans to have the same rights as the white male.

I have to give it to the Republican Party, if it wasn't for there freedom fighting  liberals, that believed in rugged individualism, the type who believed in pulling yourself up by the bootstraps, even if you are slave and have no boots; we wouldn't have Condi Rice today. This country owes the Republican Party a debt of gratitude.

  2. maybe, depends. who knows what the future may hold. We might not even have a GOP in the future, maybe well get fed up with the constant struggle between 2 rediculous factions that dont even represent the american public.

  3. One of them Yes

  4. Colin Powell, head of the JCS. Could have run for Pres if he wanted to. Could have been a contender.

  5. What does her race have to do with her successes?

  6. Well, there is only one Condoleezza, so I doubt anyone Else will ever attain that.

Now if you're asking if someone else should aspire to the rank of a cabinet post in ANY administration be it lib or con, I'd say that's a pretty good goal.

    You're question oozes with disdain

  7. Please - J.C. Watts was elected to Congress by the voters in Oklahoma four times.  No disrespect to Dr. Rice, but she basically stole Colin Powell's job out from under him when she allowed him to make such a fool of himself at the U.N. selling the Iraq war.

  8. yes,   all six of them

  9. No, Jimmy Carter appointed Jesse Jackson UN ambassador back in the 70's and he didn't have to sacrifice his principles to get there.

  10. I guess the way I see it, I don't see if she's black or white. She's reached the pinnacle for anyone.

  11. Perhaps not the pinnacle but what a role-model!  This woman is truly one intelligent lady!  God bless her for her strong leadership!

  12. So far she is the pinnacle of political success from any Black person ever.

The Democrats have never put a black in  or on a president`s cabinet.

  13. only if she won the Presidency.....otherwise, consider Colin Powell
