Is Crab Meat that is a week old but has been submerged in Vinegar still good to eat?

  1. It will be fine as long as it was put into vinegar when it was fresh.

    Vinegar is an excellant preservative, and good crabmeat is too tasty to throw away.

  3. The thought of crabmeat in vinegar sounds very unappetizing to me.  I don't think crabmeat lasts that long though. I wouldn't eat it if I were you.

  4. Ew. Why would you want to eat vinegar soaked crab meat?

  5. Just check it for an ammonia smell.  It should be pickled in the vinegar.

  6. Vinegar is a strong preservative because its acetic acid kills the microbes and bacteria that could cause food to spoil.  It will be fine to eat.
