  2. Haha, I'm actually about to cook my own cream of mushroom soup for the1st time. I'll edit and tell you how it went.

    I'm sauteing some onions and mushrooms in butter, then adding mushroom broth (not the cream of mushroom stuff. Just broth), letting it heat up, then adding cream. Then you add pepper and salt to taste.



    But if you're talking about the canned stuff- I think its gross. It doesn't taste like mushrooms and its gloppy.

  4. yes, it is good but don't take my word for it get a can your self and fine out you wouldn't be disappointed try the Campbell brand. i use it in some of my cooking. i'm a mushroom lover i eat raw mushrooms also they are good.

  6. I dont like it by itself, but I do use it alot in cooking. It tastes good in a casserole or chicken bake or something like that :)

  10. Yes, but I don't like it as a soup. I use it for casseroles and gravies. Lots of recipes call for it. You can make all kinds of good stuff with it. Here are a few.

    Mushroom Chicken

    4 boneless or bone-in chicken b*****s

    1 can cream of mushroom soup

    1-8 oz container of sour cream (regular or light)

    2/3 cup sherry

    1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)

    1 tsp garlic salt

    pepper to taste

    Mix together everything but the chicken in a bowl. Pour half or the sauce in a casserole dish. Add chicken b*****s and top with remaining sauce. Bake at 350F for 1 hour.

    Serving suggestions: Mashed potatoes with sauce as gravy or red potatoes, vegetable, and Hawaiian rolls. Can be made in crock pot. Add sauce to the pot then add the chicken, coat with remainder of sauce. Cook on low for 3-4 hours.

    Overnight Hashed Brown Potato Casserole

    Ingredients:

    (8 servings)

    2 lb Frozen hashed brown potatoes

    1/4 lb Butter

    1 pt Sour cream

    1 can Mushroom soup

    8 oz Cheddar cheese; shredded

    1 Onion; grated or 1 T. instant minced onion

    3/4 c Milk* (optional)

    Instructions:

    Cut butter into potatoes. Mix rest of ingredients together; pour over top of potatoes. Toss. *1/4 - 3/4 c. milk can be used in place of one-half of the sour cream. It will make a moister casserole, if desired. Bake in a 13x9" pan at 350 for 1/2 hr covered and an additional 1/2 hr. uncovered. I have used Cheddar Cheese soup, but reduce the butter as it will be greasy with both. I also put additional shredded cheese on top during the second half hour of baking. Doubles well. Can be refrigerated overnight after mixing all together.

    Savory Roast Beef

    3-4 lb roast

    1 can cream of mushroom soup

    3 tb steak sauce (optional)

    1 can water

    1 package dried Lipton onion soup mix

    Place roast in crock pot. Add steak sauce to top and spread to coat evenly. Add cream of mushroom soup on top spreading to coat. Sprinkle onion soup on top and add water. Cook on low for about 8-10 hours or until meat separates easily. Serves 4.

    For French Beef dip sandwiches: French Rolls, roast beef, and Au Jus Mix with a little of the drippings from the roast added for dipping. Horseradish Sauce if you like it.

    Super Broccoli Casserole

    2 boxes or 1 bag frozen, chopped broccoli, cooked and drained

    2 eggs beaten

    1 sml onion, minced

    1 can cream of mushroom soup

    ¾ cup mayonnaise

    1 cup grated cheddar, jack, or mozzarella cheese

    1 cup cracker crumbs

    ¼ cup butter

    Combine first 6 ingredients, add to buttered 9x11 casserole dish. Sprinkle with cracker crumbs and dot with butter. Bake at 350F for 1 hour.

    Canned is okay and is better in casserole dishes etc...

    But homemade is also very good.

  12. yes but if you dont boil some noodles drain and add it to noodles with a can of tuna.........

  13. cream of mushroom soup is very good, i still use it to season my soups and stews, it is also very good all by itself, i love cooking with it.
