  1. I think it is somewhat. I live in Atlanta and there are 2 Czech restaurants. I used to work in Prague and miss some of my favorites like smazeny syr and svickova, so I go to the Czech places a lot.

Czech food is so yummy, I had to buy bigger pants when I lived there ;p

One restaurant is pretty upscale, the other is more of a traditional Czech pub type place. Both are in suburbs where there is known there is known to be small groups of Czech immigrants working.

They both seem to do a lot of business and you can get things like Becherovka and Radegast beer, and fresh kolacky to take home!

  2. Not really. Czech restaurants do exist in a few places in America but are very rare.

Eastern European food is seen as too "bland" (even if it is not really) for the American palate.

Also, the Czech communities here are not very big compared to the others.

Also, our next door neighbors (Mexico) make such delicious food that we would just assume eat that. lol

  3. I would say on the east coast and in the larger cities YES

the immigrants seem to congregate in similar family and culture groups ..

    Same for the religious groups..

the Sacramento Yellow book has an excellent restaurant guide

Sorry no Czech food  listed BUT

PLEASE remember there must be a demand...

  4. Nope but I'm Czech so I know about it:)))

  5. Yes, in larger cities there are ethnic restaraunts of all types.  Czech would also be found in the Monterrey CA area, along with Serbian and Croation since there is a population there of 1st and 2nd generation Balkan/Slavic peoples.  Anywhere there is an enclave of Czechs you will likely find it.

My wife has some relatives in the Czech republic and also Romania (2nd generation), and I have enjoyed a number of good Czech and Romanian recipes.  Too many in fact, I have a few pounds to lose :D

America is very large and diverse, you will find all cuisines if you look for them.

  6. Nope! Never really thought about it at all.

  7. Well, I'm sure you could find a restaurant with Czech cuisine if you looked hard enough, but I have never heard of one in America.
