  1. DAB isn't dead, and it's unlikely that anything will happen soon that would make the 7m radios in the UK obsolete. Over 27% of households in the UK have a DAB Radio (RAJAR 2008).

There is an additional audio system for DAB, called DAB+, which is being launched in some countries (including Australia). But there are no plans to replace DAB with DAB+ in the UK within the foreseeable future.

  2. Far from it...

In fact there were reports this week that the government are looking to complete a switch over from analogue to digital radio by 2020.

The only reason that some companies such as GCap have withdrawn from DAB, is because it didn't make financial sense to keep broadcasting when the government were not making any definite noises as to whether there would be a radio switchover.

Plus, with the launch of Channel 4 Radio in the near future, I think DAB will revive itself, despite the knockbacks it has faced.

  3. it is set to take off in the next few  years, radio as we know it will change,it already started DAB is the way forward, the analog bands have been sold off

    regards x kitti x

  4. didnt think it was dead, think it will start to become popular again when prices for electricals really drop and they switch off all the analogue signals
