Is DALE EARNHARDT JR the best driver ever in NASCAR?

he is the best racer i ever seen. i xpect him to have 4 to 8 championsip befor he retires. does anyone agree with me? he is better than the othr 42

Kyle busch might be a better driver but his arrogance gets in the way of him having fans, i like both busch and JR but i respect JR alot more even though he hasnt won as much this year, but if i had to pick one to drive to win a race it would be Busch but if i had to pick one to be on my team and make me a bunch of money it would be JR he is a good person for the sport always well spoken and all around  a good person

I've been watch this sport since 1960 and Junior would not be in the top 50.

He is riding into the sport on his Daddys name un like the sons of some other drivers(Dale Jarrett,Buddy Baker,Davey Allison).

Richard Petty has to be the best ever and Dale Earnhardt Sr. is probably 2nd.  After that, there are many great drivers that would appear on the all time list.  I don't even think Jr. would make the top 10 of current drivers.  I'd like to see him win 4 to 8 more races (let alone championships) before I'd put hin in the list of good drivers.

No How can he  even be considered when he has't won a championship.  I dont think you can consider anyone a superstar

in the sport without one I can name drivers who have won championships that no one would consider the best.  Kurt Busch, Matt kenseth, Bobby Labonte .  I think right now he is the number 3 guy in the Hendricks stable and by seasons end he will prove that.  You have to look at Petty, Pearson, Sr, Allison,  Waltrip and even Gordon and Johnson before Jr

You really shouldn't have posted this question there are too many Jr. Haters on this website. But yeah, I agree. I know he's only 3rd in points, but he can actually race clean. Not to mention he's the most consistant driver who has not yet won, which he will sooner or later. I'm going with him to win the Championship, because Kyle can't keep doing what he's doing. The only people who really will be a threat to Jr. in the Chase is Jeff Burton and Denny Hamlin.

I think that Jr. is highly overrated. Yes, he's a good driver who will probably win a championship or two, but I can't STAND the hype. That goes for all of Hendrick Motorsports.

I love being a fan of his, but Jr is not the best, he is one of them, but not the #1 guy.  If I had to rank the current top 3 drivers, it would be Jeff Gordon, Jimmy Johnson and Tony Stewart.  Believe me, it pains me to say that also.

I do want to stress current drivers, not all time drivers.

And Kyle is in not way, shape or form a better driver than Jr.

Let's see, you joined Y/A on May 18th and you are -5 for points this week. Some how I'm not sure that is a ringing endorsement for participation in the "best driver" contest that gets posted here at least once if not more times every day.

But to answer your question: "best driver ever" is probably a "No". Some of the "best drivers ever" were likely long done driving before you were born.

There have been and are a lot of excellent drivers. There is virtually no way to ever come up with a "best driver ever". Opinions are too varied and there's too many factors to consider.

But is Dale, Jr a good driver? Absolutely. More importantly, he's a good person, as are the other 42.

h**l no. He's nowhere even close to being the best racer. It's amazing to me that everywhere you look, you see 88, or Dale Jr. is plastered on a wall somewhere. It's completely insane that he can be running 43rd in the race and get more coverage than the leader. He's never won a championship, and hasn't seen victory lane in a points race in over 2 years. This guy is way overrated. And honestly, if his last name wasn't Earnhardt, would he be as popular?

He is not even close. he is 67 wins and 4 championships behind Jeff Gordon. Kyle Petty is not even in the same universe as the other drivers are concerned. As a human being, Kyle Petty is one of the best out there.

He's a nice guy and a fairly good driver, but nowhere near the best. Percentage-wise, David Pearson was the best. If Wild Thing keeps going like he has the last couple months, many records will fall...............

I am a loyal Jr. fan but I don't think he is the greatest NASCAR driver I think he is very, very good.  I do think he will win a championship but there are other drivers that are very good I just label them the best driver ever not remembering racers like Dale Sr., Cale Yarborough, Junior Johnson, Darrell Waltrip.

Junior is my absoulte favorite but no he isn't the best NASCAR driver ever.  I do love your enthusaium though.  I hope he wins many races and many Championships. Someday he just may suprise a lot of people with where he ends up in NASCAR history.  I will bet on a great outcome.

I am a #1 Jr. fan but lets be realistic. Dale Sr. right off the bat better than Jr. besides Dale Sr. raced with the best, and beat the best. Dale Jr. has raced these drivers and he has only won like 20 times. I would rank Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the all time greats list at #20-30 for right now.

I don't agree.  There are some great drivers from the past that are so far beyond jr that they don't even breath the same air.  As far as current drivers, he doesn't rank up there with Jimmie, Jeff, Tony, or Rowdy.
