Is Dale Jr. as popular in other parts of the country as he is in the South?

We all know that Dale Jr. is extremely popular in the South. (My definition of the South includes NC, SC, VA, FL, GA, AL, MS, TN, LA, TX). But is he really popular in places like California, Indiana or any other state that hosts NASCAR events? I figured that guys like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Kyle Busch might be more popular than Dale Jr. in these areas.

I live in Wisconsin, and while there are more Kenseth fans, Jr. is still very popular.

I live in Maine where everyone thinks were hockey fans. I go to a school of about 275 kids and almost everyone who likes racing is a junior fan up here.

There are not many Nascar fans up here but it seems all of them either have a Jr., Gordon, Johnson, or Mark Martin sticker on their car.

I live in Iowa, and I probably see more Jr. and Tony Stewart shirts, coats etc. than any other racer. I guess people like who they like no matter what part of the U.S. they live in.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a NASCAR icon. He is the first thing people relate to when NASCAR is a topic of conversation. Yes he is popular in other parts of the U.S.

I'm from NJ originally, h**l lived about 10 miles from Martin Truex, and I was still a big Jr fan then. I've seen 2 seperate Monte Carlos painted in the #8 Bud scheme 1 was here in SC the other was in NJ. I really would'nt count certain areas of Florida as the south really though, I mean come on WPB, Miami,Tampa/St Pete, and Orlando are about as southern as NYC.

As long as there is trailor parks in every state then there are a lot of Junior fans. PA has a lot of both.

I'm from Nebraska and i go to a school of about 500 kids and all my friend are Jr fans, but I'm a Gordon fan.

So Jr is very popular.

I'm out here in Southern Calif, just to give ya a idea of his popularity, Target Stores out here over in the automotive section has Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon,Jimmie Johnson,Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, and Dale Jr theres t-shirts, tail gait gear,car gear and guess who's stuff is always empty, you guessed it Dale Jr, they can't keep his stuff in stock, its the same at the swap & flea markets out here as well. I went in my local Am/Pm market yesterday morning to get my lotto tic, and a copy of Espn the Magazine(Dale jr is on the cover), well Tim the owner put a copy back for me he said they sold all 250 copies of the magazine before 8am. You go to the race track out here, I've seen the sovenir trailers, I've seen them sell out of Jr gear..Even in my Condo complex theres other people besides me who have the #88 flag flying.. Oh yes, he is popular in  Calif as well..My friend up in Modesto says it the same way up there as well..... Yes he has fans every where.

**FYI the article in ESPN the magazine is a good article where he talks about loosing his dad Dale Sr for the first time, 8 of us at work were all teary eyed after reading it..

And I live in TN so I can't speak for other parts pf the country. Just don't think that ALL southern race fans are Jr fans. I am not, nor is anyone else in my family. We yell for anyone with Roush Racing, Yates Racing, or Evernham Motorsports.

He's pretty popular around here (WV).  Last year at an autograph signing at Ona Speedway, they had Jr and several other drivers and JR's line was atleast 6 times longer than any of the others.
