Seems like he does good at the begining of a race. Then goes to the back with Waltrip!

  1. He's still a great driver.  His confidence is low and I think he needs to ditch Tony Eury Jr (his crew chief).  It seems Eury takes a gamble every week and loses 9 times out of 10.  Earlier this year at Michigan, he won (Eury won him the race with strategy).  But MANY times this year, Jr. has lost a race, or finished much worse than he should have, because of poor pit strategy (Watkins Glen is a perfect example).

  2. First you have to be somebody to be a has been..fortunately trinket sales is all he has accomplished..no place for ability in NASCAR...just grin and be popular..sell a few caps and t-shirts..and you become #1

  3. a has been?  He is a never was.  He is not and never will be his father

  4. when he hit the wall last week it was completely 100% his fault. Not the car, not the field, not the track, it was the driver. In general, he's been hit by bad luck.

    Infineon - Sadler's tire's fault

New Hampshire - McMurray's and his spotter's fault

Chicago - pit lane's fault (i sound like a prick)

Indy - NASCAR and Goodyear's fault

    Pocono - out of gas

    The Glen - Eury's fault

  5. I heard he is getting ready to retire.  He just can't take all the fame, the money, and living the good life anymore.  His critics are finally breaking him down.  He can no longer take the shame, the name calling.  It's too bad really...wonder who you guys will endlessly bash now??

  6. He will never be a has been...probably just bad luck

  7. No he is just having some bad luck right now.  It will turn around when the chase begins.

  8. He is a has-been who never was, a manufactured driver for the TV cameras, who can't live up to the hype that has been spun for him. In a nutshell, Junior is the Barack Obama of NASCAR.

  9. he is having bad luck

    GO JR!!!!

  10. Well he's had bad luck for about 6 of his 8 seasons, not including this one...so I'm starting to think it's not just bad luck, unless he broke a mirror 7 years ago bad luck usually ends by now. People can't blame Tony Eury, Teresa Earnhardt, other drivers, the track, the tires, the wall jumping out and grabbing him forever...eventually it goes back to the true source. Sure it's bad luck, but look at how much of it's self inflicted. When he hit the wall Sunday that was nobody's fault but his own. He had a top 10 car, but cost himself a better finish.

He's in one of the, if not the best car on the track, which is what Jr. fans said was all he needed to win mutiple championships. That's good, but mostly wishful thinking, I just don't see it happening. He just doesn't seem to have the focus. I think he has the TALENT, just not the focus. Sure he had a great 1/2 of the season, and after his Michigan win everybody said the wins would start pouring in, and they haven't.

He's fourth in points now, but where will he be next week? What about the end of the season? Just 4 or 5 weeks ago he was second in points, and in position to take first. Jeff Burton won at Bristol in May and is less than 10 points back I believe...so he's gotta worry about him now. I said the other day that it's a tough time to be a Jr. fan, because guys like Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch is showing what you can do in the best car, and Jr is in one too, and isn't living up to the hype.

I don't know if he was a has been, maybe in 1998 and 1999 he looked good, but he's never really put together 2-4 consistent seasons in a row to be considered great. Above average, yes, but not great. As long as he'll be around he'll still win every most popular driver award and any poll with his name in it, though. That doesn't equate onto the track, however.

  11. I think Chevy teams are having trouble with this new car.  Next year they will be better with the new engine package, and after all this year's experience with the new car.  Hendrick needs to figure out how to keep the car handling well at the end of the race, like they do at the beginning of the race.  I think he is just having a spell of bad luck, but he's still a contender for the championship.  Anything can, and does, happen in nascar.

  12. Dale Jr. is a has been!

  13. LOL What I need to know is what has he done to even be considered A HAS BEEN??

    He HAS BEEN sucking

  14. It is just bad luck, he will do better, you just wait!

    Go Dale Jr.!!!

    JUNIOR NATION!!!

  15. No I think he will get on a roll its Really Jeff Gorden with the bad luck

  16. has been??? No way in **** is he a has been!! He's a great driver! It's just the fact that Toyota ( Kyle mostly ) is dominating and I think it should stop.... NOW!!!

  17. Bad luck or not , he still makes the big dollar bills.

  18. He's not having bad luck  He is not a has been  He is just a average driver having average races.  Remember he is JR  not SR

  19. Let's call it "Bad Luck"

  20. He is 3rd in points HELLO!

  21. Let's call it 4th in the points standings, ya know ahead of the other 39 teams.  Yes, he has had a run of bad luck but every driver does.  Nothing to worry about, I believe Junior will be in the Chase and that alone is an accomplishment.  Don't give up on him just yet.

  22. I would say it's combination of bad luck and bad strategy. I think at the end of this year, Jr. should get rid of Tony Eury Jr. He has really been hurting him these last few races.
