How dumb was that move..Leafs sign Tucker for 4 years, 12 mllion or something and buy him out after one year. I realize it was Ferguson not Fletcher that signed him, but are you telling me the Leafs couldnt trade him for "anything". Now they have to pay him a million a year of 6 years, plus take the cap hit for 3 more...

Do not get it....

  1. he i sooo bad i dont care what they do as long as he isnt on the leafs

  2. No WAY! I think they're insane. However, they are claening house big time and probably want to get younger like the rest of the NHL. Out with the old and in with the new. I love Tucker, he can sign with Philly anyday!

  3. JFJ was an idiot, he signed all these past their prime guys to unreal contracts that paid them way to much and were way to long of contracts for these guys ages and then to add the no trade.. common now.

tucker would not of left, for sure he wouldnt of, so im not surprised they did that at all.

they couldnt trade him, had a no trade clause on his contract and he was not willing to wave it.

  4. I hate Tucker and am glad he's unemployed now despite his nice severance package. Maybe now he can fade away from the NHL and go work on his golf swing. He'll be on the PGA Tour real soon considering all the practice he's been getting. Then people in the Golf section of Answers can complain about him.

  5. BUY him out. Then when he goes to the next team, he doesnt have to ask for a lot of money because the LEAFS will still be paying him half his salary for 3 years! The WINGS will gladly put him on a line with Draper and Maltby for a 1mil a yr!

  6. I agree with what DC Fury said. Darcy Tucker was one of my favourite players and I think they should have kept him. He had one bad year and they bought him out. He would be great to have on any team, except he was too expensive (at what the Leafs were paying him). JFJ has f*cked us over so nicely.

  7. Tucker tried hard and was surprising an eloquent interview.

However Tucker was not an asset for the leafs.

He takes up PP time, does produce somewhat. Takes bad penalties and probably has worst fight won ratio then Worf from Star Trek. The no trade clause means the leafs were never going to get any thing back for him.

Cut your losses now, change the dressing room, play young or cheap and try to get the 1st pick or low pick.

  8. Not at all.  To be honest this move really confused me.  A gritty 18 goal scorer has a place on every roster no matter what.  If the Leafs want to rebuild they should have made it clear to Tucker that if he wants to be a real team guy he should wave his no trade clause so they can stock up on prospects and draft picks, otherwise they'd buy him out.  Either way he's no longer a Leaf.  18 goals from a tough experienced player could get you at least a draft pick, something the leafs organization sorely needs if they want to rebuild.

  9. darcy in my opinion was worth the money to keep him if they did not like him trade him he does take bad penalties but has a up side as well.a die hard toronto fan is mad.

  10. Nope, they're just having a fire sale and getting rid of the older players.

If you ask me they should get rid of Boyd Devereaux.  As a Wings fan I can say he is really the only player I have disliked when they played for the Red Wings.  The guy is a hack with stonehands.

I agree Nips... My prediction is the Wings will sign him for 1-2 years to take Dallas Drake's position of gritty veteran.  The Wings have plenty of cap space to pay for a guy like Tucker for 1 or 2 years, whether it is 1 or 3 million a season.

  11. that my man is way the leafs are the leafs as simple as that

  12. Tucker had no skill whatsoever. All he did was put in the rebounds on the powerplay, it was a good move to get him out, but they should have tried to trade him.
