  1. Yes, not only can you change lenses, in a few years when your camera breaks or becomes obsolete you only have to buy a new camera body and use your old lenses.

  2. Quite Simply...

Yes, A DSLR Is Much Better Than A Point And Shoot..

    1) You Can Change Lenses

    2) The Image Quality Is Much Better

    3) You Can Alter Focal Length.

    4) You Looks More Professional ( Personally )

    5) You Can Add Flashes, And Remote Units, And Wireless..

    6) More Expensive- Pay For What You Get..

    See..

    A Plain & Simple Answer :)

  3. It depends on how much time you are willing to invest in learning the system?

DSLR can do lot more that simple Point n Shooters, but you have to learn how to do it.

If you are for looking for total auto, the DSLR is still better, but the difference is not as noticeable.

How much Manual control you need over the settings?

I do a lot of low light photos, and moving subject photos, and I like the fact that I can select the shutter speeds, aperture settings, ISO etc quickly, rather than the camera choosing them.

Again, i have to spend the time to learn HOW to do it, and practice enough so that I can set them quickly and accurately.

Do you need/want shorter shutter lag?

The DSLR is much faster shooting, after you push the shutter.

This is just a quick "review"

The DSLR has the ability to take the hard shots, that the point n shooters have trouble with, but if you don't spend the time learning the system, the controls, the "rules" of photography,

(ie, take a few camera classes)

you will not enjoy most of the advantages, and may lose a few shots, while you are trying to figure out how to use it?
