Question:

Is DirectTV any good? Or stay with Time Warner?

I'm with Time Warner and DirectTV is offering a bundle package that's about 40 bucks less a month. Not sure if it's worth it, it's a 24 month commitment.

What's your advice?

  1. If you're a sports fan DIRECTV is a must have.

  2. Directv has the best channel selection and HD channels by far, but they may not be cheaper than cable.  You save a lot on the intro, but  find out the actual costs of the package after everything is full price.

I've only lost reception momentarily when a thunder storm is right overhead - and this has just happened 2x now after a year.  The HD satellite and dish are better than standard for storms, but have to be aligned right.

  3. I'd stay with time warner, the whole 2 year commitment sucks and after the promotion expires that they'll put you on it'll probably be more expensive anyways.  DirectTV sucks.

  4. The DirecTV satellite receiver is very  susceptible to weather interference.  Where I live in Florida, every aftenoon thunderstorm knocks out the satellite.  However, in clear weather or even in light rain, the reception is good.  The DVR works well and is easy to use.  I would personally go with wichever one was less expensive.
