Question:

Is Disney Cruise worth the money?

I'm interested in going on the Disney cruise but a 3 or 4 night cruise is about the same price as if I went to the Disney World for one week. From my understanding the Disney cruise is much more than your average booze cruise, so if it is more family oriented I might be ok with bringing my niece along. Thanks for the advice =)

  1. I'm saving for one right now!  I have heard they are worth the money.  Go for it!!

  2. Disney cruises are family oriented with a large portion of the on board space dedicated to family and/or children's activities.  They basically follow the "Disney Experience" including Disney themed decorations and characters on board.  That is not to say that there are not adult activities/entertainment but they, more than most other cruise lines, are for the child in all of us.    Remember that in taking a cruise meals and a number of on board (and occasionally shore) activities are included which can make them a good value.  In the case of any cruise line though, be careful of the "extras" as they can add up but they can also be worth it.

  3. While I am sure you and your niece would enjoy a Disney cruise, I am also sure you and your niece would enjoy a cruise on Carnival or Royal Caribbean, and it would cost a lot less.

Is the Disney experience worth the extra cost?  If you are just interested in cruising, no.  If you and/or your niece are BIG Disney fans, then it might be.

  4. It is ABSOLUTELY worth it. There are actually combo cruise and park packages you can buy that will give you the best of both worlds. We went on a three day cruise and then came back and had three days at the parks. Or you can do it the other way around, it's up to you.

As for the ships, I used to think Royal Caribbean had the best ships. Then I took a Disney cruise. The best way to describe it is this: The meticulous attention to detail and organization you experience at the parks is carried over to a cruise ship. The ships are newer, cleaner, and better looking than those of other lines, and there is much more to do. Our kids were mesmerized by all the activities, and adults can definitely have a good time as well. Parents or guardians can even enroll the kids in some of the rec programs and activites, and then go off and have some time for the spa, go to a movie, lay out, or whatever.

Another plus is the private Disney island in the Bahamas the ships sail to. You can spend the day at the beach, snorkel, ride bikes, go on glass bottom boats, etc. all without the hassle that you would experience at some other Caribbean ports of call.

A good first move would be to request the DVD from Disney Cruise Lines. You can go online to order it. It is free and will take just a few days to arrive. Have fun!

  5. YES - Disney is worth every penny for the cruise.  You will have a fabulous time, with great food and great entertainment.

  6. I wouln't waste my money on a Disney Cruise I would take a Carnival Cruise.  I have taken my kids several times and its well worth the money.  The kids have lots to do and mom and dad get some free time.  Disney is an over priced experience in cruising.  Camp Carnival is available for kids activity's and is free.  Carnival is great experience.  The alcohol costs a lot so in less you want a huge sale and sign bill it's never a booze cruise.  Have fun!!!!

  7. I just came back from a Disney Cruise.  Disney takes care of just about every facet of your cruise from the airfare, pre/post cruise hotel stays, ground transfers, etc.

Disney sends you tons of information before the cruise to allow you to sign up/reserve shore excursions, dining reservations at Palo, and get good information about evetnts going during the whole cruise.

You can also check out reviews of professionals and other travelers on www.cruisecritic.com.  There are details on every cruise line and every cruise ship...both good and bad which helped alot in preparing for your cruise.

    good luck and have fun.

  8. My son and I went on the 4 night cruise and it was awesome.  Your niece would love it.
