Is Dortmund a nice modern city?

Question

What is it like to live in Dortmund, Germany? What are some of its characteristics? For example, I read about how wild Berlin is, how fancy Munich is, and how backwards Bonn still is...don't know if those are true or not, but I am curious about Dortmund too.

I didn't think Munich was all that fancy and Bonn that backwards.

For God's sake Bonn has a McDonalds!!!

Dortmund is certainly not a very beautiful city as it was very destroyed in the war and hastily rebuild. It's certainly not fancy.

The people there are very direct and down to earth.

And the green hills of the Sauerland are very close if you want to spend a day in the nature.

It's a very nice modern city, it's not big as New York City or Hong Kong, but it's not small too like Munich or Geneva... It's just nice, it is comparable to Atlanta, Georgia... good economy, nice outdoors, and good traffic.
