Question:

Is Ebay getting saturated ....?

I have dabbled on Ebay for some five years now but recently found it difficult to sell anything at all. And with the prohibitive fees, it isn't what it used to be. Does anyone else feel that Ebay has saturated the market place with too few buyers chasing too many items?

  1. It's saturated with Far east sellers who flout EBay's circumvention of fees rules but EBay do nothing!. It seems EBay's rules are for some and not others! Hypocrites the lot of them!

  2. I no what you mean 0- it seems to be all about getting moeny nowadays ..

You have to pay for this that and the other....

    and postage fees have rocketed

its bad for the buyer and the seller..... ans sruff never turns up because of the wretched postal strikes....

    Grrr....., rant over!

  3. ebay is getting insane. Sometimes its better off going to local stores and shipping i think is the worst on there. For ex. say someone wanted to sell coupons yet if you look at shipping it could be like $3.00+ dollars to ship paper when you should just stick it in a letter envelope and slap a stamp to it and mail it. Now ebay fees i swear are raising but maybe it could be holiday reasons. I wanted to sell something I won and the charges are crazy it costed like 5 dollars to do that.

I compare to if items are used, and what they go for in stores. I dont see the point in buying something from a store and selling it for same price on ebay and then adding more money for shipping. Nobody will buy what they can get cheaper in stores. I thought the point of ebay was to have fun, find things you may not locally and still save money?

  4. I agree. Back when I started eBaying (i.e. when it started), it was a much better place. it was a place to buy and sell random junk. Now it's full of c**p knock-off good, scams, stupid shops that rip you off, etc etc. I want to start a business selling on eBay but I don't think it's worth it, what with all the c**p on there.

BTW, if you want a concrete example of this, read the recent news story about Spice Girls tickets selling for f-all on eBay. Ditto those for the s*x Pistols.

Does anyone know if there are any good alternatives?

  5. You can sometimes still pick up a bargain but it is more difficult to sell things for a reasonable amount

  6. I was thinking the same thing today when I was on Ebay. I started buying & selling (in my spare time) about 5 years ago. Back then I used to make quite a decent amount of money selling but at the same time I could pick up some great bargains. Now it seems the opposite, things I sell go for lower & I rarely buy these days because bargains are few & far between.
