Is Egypt considered part of Africa, or the middle east?

Question

I don't know much about modern Egypt (only the Pharaoh age) and I'm not Egyptian, I'm English and we're doing an essay on the British empire at school (grrrrrrr, hate school!) and i need to know what continent it is part of...

technically and geographically, its considered part of Africa but sometimes, in certain circumstances, it might be put into the middle east category

Edit: it's not 'sometimes considered as part of the Middle East'. I work in market research and we call that area MENA (middle east and north africa). Middle East is for the know Middle Eastern countries in Asia and North Africa for countries such as Egypt, Algeria..etc

I'm egyptian, it is a part of Africa (Continent) . Middle East is not a continent, it is the region where Egypt and surrounding arab countries are located. so to answer your question, Egypt is located in the Continent of Africa.

There is often confusion because most of the countries of North Africa (Morocco across  to Egypt and down to Sudan and Djibouti) have cultural and religious ties with many  countries of the Middle East region of Asia.   Geographically speaking though, Egypt is most definitely in Africa.

It is in Africa, and it is considered part of the Middle East.   Same as Iran is in Asia, and is considered part of the Middle East.   Also a chunk of Turkey is in Europe (and all of Greece) and one or sometimes both of those are considered to be part of the Middle East.

Egypt is north africa. but culturally speaking it has more ties with the middle east. so it is considered to be the middle east aswell.

its kind of like denmark being part of scandinavia. look at a map and youll see it is in no way connected to scandinavia. Culturally speaking though. it does relate much more to scandenavia than it does to germany (its southern neighbour)
