Question:

Is Egypt really a safe place to visit?

I've had some friends who say that it isn't very safe. They had to be escorted by Egyptian police when they were touring. If this is true, then why isn't Egypt safe?

  1. I joined Y!A in June 2006 .....

I joined Yahoo Chat along ago BUT i don't remember when exactly

    AND

I was asked this question in BOTH (Y!A & Y!Chat) Zillion times

I swear of every Holy Thing in the WHOLE WORLD that Egypt & every other arabic country is SAFE, totally SAFE

    ----------------

    About Egypt:

    Egypt is SAFE, very SAFE

Egypt is well known as (The Land of Safety & Security)

  2. If you stick to the tourist areas you'll be fine, just cover yourself up abit. There's heaps of tourists there.Went with friends a long time ago and we were strongly advised not to go off the beaten track.

  3. This is the 113th time this question is asked

It actually depends on the time and place don't except to be safe when you're walking alone at an isolated place at midnight

but for example if your at midnight in Cairo you're as safe as anywhere the City literally never sleeps same goes with Alexandria Or Sharm el shiekh

  4. no its not

In the towns its not safe for women to go out at night - especially alone

  5. It's very safe, believe me and it's a great place with tours and souvenirs and museums.

  6. Visit with me babe you can protect me.

  7. the escorting is tradition - and considering the history of nomads and bedouine robberies in former time, it makes sense. Also, the roads are in a bad state (compared to Europe or the States) - help is always near because of the escort. that's why the tourists are gathered in convois when travelling between Hurghada and Luxor, for example. btw, the trip takes 4 to 5 hours!

generally, Egypt is one of the safest places in the Arabic world - it is western orientated, liberal, and the terrorists have little to no support in the people.

if terrorist acts are committed, then the aggressors come from abroad.

  8. Don't waste your time with Egypt. The bureaucracy alone will hurt your sanity. Just an example, your medication will be confiscated at the airport and it won't be returned to you by the time you leave.

  9. This question is asked a lot here because someone has told them a story but the answer is always the same Egypt is perfectly safe.

The crime rate is very low and i feel a lot safer in Egypt than in some places in the UK.  Egypt is safer then most western countries.

The only thing i can say is don't walk in the streets wearing tiny little torts of skirts and little tops wear a nice top but don't show any mid-rif and i would cover the leg to at least the knee other wise you will get unwanted attention.

Egypt has thousands of tourists a day and many return cos they love the country and can relax and enjoy the beautiful country.

I am a young female and i travel alone to Egypt very frequently and have never had a problem and i will be moving to Egypt in 2 weeks.

So don't worry you will have a great holiday.

  10. Safe Enough !!!

  11. There is competition in tourism. It is possible that other countries spread rumors so that tourists go to them instead of going to a certain country.

Egypt is safe. It is safer than most other countries. Egypt receives 11 million tourists every year and most of them go back with more friends.
