Is Elmer's white glue as strong as wood glue

I'm also going to use screws but don't want to run out & get the wood glue

  1. not at all! wood glue costs more...but you wont have to repair.

  3. Nope. It doesn't hold as well as wood glue does. It also breaks down if it gets wet. Wood glue will work much better.  

  4. Elmers glue is water soluable so it depends on what you're using it for.

  5. Elmer's white glue is better for more porous things like ceramics. The wood glue is specially designed to penetrate into wood moreso than white glue.

  6. Elmer's white glue will work but the carpenter's glue holds much better.
