We got a letter saying we won 50,000 but have to make our first deposit and pay a processing fee in order for them to release the rest of the money. It says it is sponsored by PCH, Readers digest, etc. The check itself is paid out of Merry Maids L.P. from First Tennesse Bank. It doesn't state which contest was won in the letter. Has anyone else won this prize and is it real?

  1. It's a scam.  Instead of repeating a previous best answer to this  same question, I'll just link to it:

  2. This is a SCAM. The below links confirm various email scams. There is also an online form for the reporting of such - (with links for your own country.) :

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these thieves. Please remember the messages are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

  3. There will never be a processing fee for a legit cash prize.
