  1. Yes!

  2. No it isn't. I think the best description is a collective of countries who work together for common goals.

  3. It's a Federation of sovereign nations (States). But this is what the US is supposed to be. But the danger for the EU nations is that given time the Federal government will ultimately erase any and all traces of national sovereignty that still exists. This has already taken place in the US. Many Europeans are already beginning to notice this dangerous trend.

This is why Federalization works so well in theory but fails to work in practice. Even with reasonable safeguards and restrictions on the authority of the Federal government (i.e. the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution) over time the States begin to voluntarily surrender their autonomy particularly when their public policy decisions become too expensive to finance on the State level. Passing the costs along to the Federation invites more and more Federal encroachment and control.

  4. NO.   It is a group of independant countries working together for their common good.....and, voluntarily, pooling some areas of policies.

  5. No, it's exactly what the name says, an union of countries.

  6. No, it's a co-alition of countries united together who share common interests and agree on laws which all member countries must obide.

It has been said that Europe could be similar to a 'fereralist' country, which means it would be like the united states basically. But it's a long way from that at the moment.

    go to www.europa.eu

    or www.bbc.co.uk/insideeurope

this should tell you everything you need to know!

  7. Not exactly, however, there are some forces within the EU who are steadfastly moving in that direction, towards the creation of the United States of Europe - something which Winston Churchill once alluded to.  Was he making a predication about the future?

One puzzling thing about the EU is that apparently we all have automatic EU Citizenship - this somehow implies that the EU is or will soon be a country.  You cannot be a citizen of a nowhere place!  So, my guess is that for the moment, while the EU is not actually a country yet, it will soon become one.

The USE - not sure if that looks quite right on paper, but there you have it.  We have a flag already - blue with stars in a circle thing.

The EU flag - try counting the stars after a couple of gins. . .

Here's the flag and the 'national' anthem of the EU

    . . . .music by Beethoven - who else?

The words 'national' and 'anthem' when put together in joined up writing do imply a country, a nation!  So there you have it.  So far anyway.

  8. NO.

  9. Nope.

  10. No its an undemocratic monster which is trying to destroy the sovereignty of individual nations.

  11. CHRIST IN HEAVEN NO NO NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Not really but its definetly very well linked together and the euro as a currency is doing extremely well.

  13. more like a confederacy of nations.
