Is FTA (Free to Air) satellite Legal?

I know that modifying a reciever to intercept encrypted signals is illegal but can anyone point me to a legitimate site that proves that FTA or Free to Air Satellite is legal. Thanks in advance.

Yes, FTA receivers are legal. The ruling by the FCC was if Dish cannot scramble the signal so that different equipment cannot receive it, then its not illegal. You cannot modify their equipment to get the signal. Just like Police scanners, they are not illegal, however if you use it for criminal or profit, its illegal
