I am on facebook and I hate it. I get sent the most stupidist stuff. Who has time to send and read all that cr@p. I don't really care that it's 3am and they are going to bed or that some-one has poked me. As for the drinks what good is a computer picture of one. Give me the real thing.

Am I an "old geyser"? I have met up with a lot of old friends but the spam is driving me crazy.

  1. Just do what my mum does - if she adds someone and gets loads of rubbish from them she just takes them off her friend list!

  2. what's worse is it's not spam from some annoying geek in his mom's basement.. It's your own bloomin mates!! GRRR!!

still love f'book though. I live in london, so it's great for keeping in touch with all my friends from SA.

  3. I've deleted all applications that allow people to send me virtual things, I have also changed my settings so that I don't receive any notifications that aren't messages from my friends.

  4. its for any generation....

  5. The only internet 'chat site' or community site I use is Y/A. Don't even know how to get to the others like Facebook and myspace or how to use them. Now that's pathetic.

  6. you can edit what and how many emails you recieve....

  7. Haha, yeah, I am not a big facebook fan.  I am young and still think that it is stupid.

i actually prefer Myspace.  It has helped me to get and stay in touch with a bunch of my old school friends.

  8. I never go there any more it so boring

  9. I agree, what reasonably mature adult is interested in being bitten by a werewolf, becoming a vampire or drinking an internet cocktail etc etc.......

A monumental waste of time and energy, I enjoyed it for about a week when it was still interesting to find and hear from friends I haven't seen in 15 years but thereafter it's strictly for the younger generation.

  10. I just ignore all those stupid things. I mainly use it to chat to people and put up pics of my baby.

  11. No I don't think so it depends on the person. Most of the people that send me invites or virtual whatevers are older than me. In fact my nieces have cleaner pages than many of the old fogies on my list ... including their mother (my sister-in-law), who I would block if it wouldn't cause an international incident :-)

Just block everything you are not interested in and if a particular person keeps spamming you click ignore all invites from them.

    Good luck :-)

  12. Finally someone who gets that recieving the same application 10 times from 10 different people is no fun!!!! I'm kinda bored with it and will only go online to share pics with friends or write rather morbid notes... nothing more. I kinda get really tired and i doubt its only for the younger generation, lots of golden oldies there as well...

  13. Ha, ha. I feel the same way!!  Yet, I have friends in SA older than I who regularly send me funwall stuff, et c.  I was checking some stuff recently, and Emjay noticed I was online and it was such a pleasant surprise to chat to him!!  So, something good does come of it, every now and again.

I do use it to keep contact with my nieces.  My brother and sister are rather poor on the communications, so I get news and photos from their daughters!!  And I also use it to check up on other friends in SA, we never seem to email each other, but they post info and photos on facebook for all the world to see.

  14. It annoys me too. the amount of things im "invited" to join is unbelievable. Join the "we hate man utd club" etc.

    i mean, who really cares???

Id say facebook is better now it has the chatroom thing.

Bebo is full of even younger people, so i dont use it anymore.

  15. If you go to your settings you can turn off most of the alerts so you no longer get all the email notifications. I know they drive me insane too.

  16. I agree!!

You can actually stop all applications being sent to you via the settings (or something) also block certain applications and people form sending you spam. It does not mean you block your friend but just that they can't send you those annoying applications. I get rid of all of mine by going to home and then on the top right hand side where it says applications somewhere there is a button which you can press and it will delete what ever you don't want.

One of my friends is the same and has all the applications on Facebook you could possibly get! I can't even go onto her profile because it takes hours for all the info to download onto the page. I don't see how she has the time to do all those things on there.

There is barely enough time in the day already!

  17. Well cat you are really getting old if you do not care if some one had poked you!! I am not on Facebook.

  18. No way, my boss is on FB and he's in his forties - plus I might add that the majority of the cr*p I get sent is actually from a guy old enough to be my grandad!

It's gotten to the stage where I just hit "delete" for all those application-thingies I'm sent, except where they include an amusing video of some sort!

Check this out, might give u a laugh:

  19. I personally don't mind FB, I wish I was as popular as you lol

But Bebo is more for the younsters.

  20. I look up old friends an colleagues, and post pictures for our family abroad. I'm not into vampires and werewolves and the other c**p

  21. No my little sister sends me 20-30 stupid things per day. I want to strangle her some days. Its a good way of communicating with old friends

  22. At first, Facebook is meant for campus or college students. But today, i think Facebook has develop into a more popular social networking site. We could use it to meet our colleagues and old friends easily but i agree that sometimes it become annoying when you receive attentions that you'd rather not have.

It's because Facebook has a lot of applications. You can deactivated the applications and only received informations that you need. Please try to look in your profile setting or other information in www.facebook.com
