  6. It's called that because most of the items on the menu are already prepared or take only a few seconds to make. That is why menus are usually limited to things that are easy to fry or grill, because you can set that up ahead of time and get things out quickly. In the beginning many restaurants would not let you customize burger toppings, etc, to speed the process up even more.
